A powerful piece of work ... " liking " it is a bit facile ... it is about LIFE about generations of the family ... how they interchange , support , enjoy , ultimately move on .

I knew Paula , stayed the day with my family in Bath in 80's ..a very beautiful , lovely , talented woman. Helped my son with his ceramic thesupis vases on her work ...so proud to have known her , thanks to my neighbour and fellow artist Derek Saville ..also no longer with us .

Stumbled upon this post only today. Turned up on my UKposts feed. Sad to say I am not familiar with Magdelena's artworks so I feel blessed to see this short documentary! Such beautiful structures! ❤ without all the bells and whistles! Thank you for sharing this artist's textile pieces

I met William twice over the years I photographed him first in 1996, and then in 2016. He actually invited me to come to Paris to visit him. I never took him up on the visit!

The painting (if it is one?) we only get a glimpse of is by far the most powerful thing on display, it looks superbly "from the land... for the land". A great pity we don't see more of it. The installation is moving conceptually and no doubt therapeutically for the artist (I'm not dismissing those things for what they are), but a tad twee aesthetically/imaginatively - more craft than a work of the unfettered, fully-fledged imagination (though I know imagination - the very life-blood of art - is suspect in today's art world).

...the richest people on the planet are artist, and few are richer than William...I was in Rome when he was removing grime off the canal walls and creating large silhouettes ...I realised the depth of his exploration...massive influence...One of the few intellectually honest contemporary artists.

Putting aside the absinthe and lead poisoning from ingesting his paints, which obviously assume a severe health problem, his childhood and early adulthood and its struggles can almost certainly be put down to his parents. Their high and narrow expectations of him just seemed permanently unattainable. He just wanted to be understood, and as a response his father wanted to have him confined to an asylum - not because of Vincent's health, but because theodorus feared that the family reputation would be tarnished if Vincent wasn't "hidden away"

I've never understood why someone would intentionally damage a piece of art made by someone else. This must be a very small pathetic person.

I am not convinced. This painting doesn't compare with much of Sargent's other major works, IMHO.

it would be grand to see the entire dance from the documentary. I watched the whole film on MoMA/Tate exhibition of the cutouts and the dance by Francine Stock /Nicolas Serota was one of the most delightful pieces I've ever seen. Let us see it again!

Sorry to the GR user, but he is not very particular about the camera model. When asked, "Do you use a zoom camera?" he simply replied, "Because it's convenient." * RICOH GR Series, * Nikon COOLPIX S7000/S9000/S9500, * SONY DSC-RX100M7

In addition, his essence lies in the photographic development process. Daido Moriyama was in charge of developing Yukio Mishima's famous photo book ”Barakei (1963)”, created by his master Eikoh Hosoe.

It seems like contemporary art is dominated by intellectual constructs. Ideas and concepts are more important than simple visual reactions.

In a day? It´s simple enough to do in an hour or so. It´s just a few shapes. The proportions don´t matter, it´s not very detailed, only 2d, no shadows, so yeah, that must´ve been pretty quick. It´s just not very good. Just look at those hands. I guess most children can produce something similar. Pablo Picasso could paint. He made some really nice paintings. Maybe he just had a bad day when painting this one or didn´t want to put any effort into it.
