I´ve wanted this tent for a long time because of three door desing looks similar to my Slumberjack In season 2, with the advantage of being more modern and lighter. I definitely love the feature of having two entrances on the sides and the large entrance with window at the front of the tent, it makes things more comfortable when you travel with someone else, but sadly fewer tents have three door desing.

I started hiking their in probably 1974 ot 1975 when you just parked on the side of a dirt road and hit the Laurel Trail where it now crosses the main road going to the trailhead. I was overjoyed when we moved back from california in 1988 to right that there was a parking lot at the trailhead with a Rangers station. My kids all love Savage Gulf.

Great review. I am torn between buying this expensive (but excellent quality Australian down quilt bag - Neve Gear Waratah Quilt) or something economical but good like the Naturehike CW400 which is on my list which I whittled down from a bunch of bags. Thank you for sharing your experience with the Naturehike. (I watch the pennies too!)

I really like these bags from Naturehike. I really like Naturehike, but on almost everything that I have pruchased from them I find small things that they could change that would make the product so much better. I have a Naturehike Rock Series 60 +5 liter pack. This pack is lightweight and built really well. However, it is not ajustable and it has a sown in pocket on one of the chest straps that is really just in the way. As far as the bags are concerned they really could have added a pocket on the inside and draft collars. This would make them so much better. And of course they should make one with about 200 more grams of down and that would bring them down to about a 20 F degree bag. We have used them down below freezing by adding a 1 lb. puffy blanket or a synthetic blanket.

I can't remember what happened the first time that made me leave, the second try i got nearly to the big opening and heard some animal i couldn't figure out what it could be but not being armed in any type of way, decided to not take the risk. The third time, some how got turned around and wound up near old Beulah 😢 started raining, fell and twisted my ankle on the way back had to hobble out the best i could and go to the er. It is truly a wild and rugged place. And there are some people who live near there that are pretty unruly. One of our search teams walked up on 2 different moonshine stills one of which was still in use. You will see my son and I armed in some of the video because we were advised to do so by some of the men from that area. The man who we were searching for was off trail which made it more difficult to search for him.

It got down to the about 24 F that night and we stayed warm that night. I did not guy out the ends that night and that held in extra warmth. I am not sure how this tent will vent in warm weather , but if you open one of the vestibules you should be fine. This tent has a great design and the only real issue is that it is on the heavy side.

The problem is that when you add liners, thermal clothing and other sleeping bags to it you aren't testing the CW400. Instead you're testing sleep systems. A true test is the bag by itself while wearing at most boxers and a t-shirt like you would at home in bed. Practically every other reviewer does the same thing. They layer up almost the same way you have done and some even more so. How can that possibly be a true test of the sleeping bag?
@boomersoutdoors8898
@boomersoutdoors8898 2 місяці тому
Well in our defense this sleeping bag is not made for cold weather and we said that in the video. We already knew that we would freeze without adding extra layers and liners. We chose the Big Agnes Anvil Horn 15 degree bag. They are expensive , but I found them on sale for $ 259.00 USD. The reason I chose this bag is because it is extra wide and it has a pad sleeve. This means the bag stays on the pad and allows you to turn over easy. I liked the Naturehike bag because it is wider than most mummy bags , but the Anvil Horn is even wider. As I have gotten older I have become a little claustrophobic at times, and I have always tossed and turned when I sleep. So I really love this bag. It does however weigh 3 lbs. so it ended up weighing the same amount at the Naturehike bag plus the 1 lb. puffy blanket. It also takes up about the same amount of room in our packs.

Welcome aboard and thank you for the encouraging words. I first fell in love with camping and backpacking when I was a young teen, but got away from it after getting married and having 5 children. We did do a lot of car camping with the kids and they developed a love for the outdoors. Back in 2013 my oldest son and I went to Colorado for a 7 day adventure and that reminded me of the adventure and renewing that comes from being in the wilderness and especially the mountains. Since then we have tried to get out as often as we can and try to encourage people our age to get out and have their own adventures.
