UberEats is being forced by the EU court to start employing their drivers. They started a pilot in the Netherlands where drivers are under contracts with hourly wage via temp agencies, with actually quite good pay. As a driver myself for 4+ years I’m not “eligible” for this “pilot” as I already have an account with Uber. None of the existing drivers are eligible. The pilot is now full in my city with new drivers, meaning there are now an excess of drivers for the same amount of orders. Uber is literally pushing out the existing loyal workers and replacing them with new ones. I’m also quite sure they are pushing orders to the accounts of those new drivers, as employing them costs more. Can’t confirm this, but it’s a hunch. Also: they are pushing double/triple orders, but instead of receiving double the pay, you receive less because “2 for 1”. It’s bleak.

At the start I was on the side of the countries that got robbed but by the end I found myself not caring, history is littered with figures who put so much pride in their country and it's history that new wars spring up because of it, especially when it comes to reclaiming things that used to belong to them be it territory or possessions. Just had brain surgery to have a tumor removed they had me kicked out in 3 days. Befor insurance $85k as long as i dont get 100% screwed over thats going to drop down to $4k. But thats only the start of what will be a long road if im lucky as tumor is cancerous. Have not even got the bills for all the testing and such after. Let alone im going to need 6 weeks of trearments and the reluctance rate of this type of tumor is pretty much 100% as along as the chemo/radation does not kill you. Some how my credit score also just dipped even though i have not touched any of my credit and this is jot on it yet. I literally cant work my job now. And i still have a massive student debt. But you know what....im okay. Its all so far gone passed my ability to care anymore. Just hope that i can hold off the debt collectors and dodge them for the 1 to 5 years i got left now. Fers dont deserve to get my life savings right befor i die.

My 27 year old son was a victim, contacted through a dating app. He asked his siblings and me for several thousand dollars to invest, but we all refused. Predatory lenders on the internet were happy to give him loans at 99% interest, though. It soon got out of control and we figured out the scam. He had to file bankruptcy to get out from under the predatory loans. 2 years later, his credit is recovering and he learned a valuable lesson. Very sad to see others’ stories here.

Side note: My gf pays 11k a year for the gutted Obamacare, that has another 11k deductible and she just doesn't use it unless she ends up at the ER for Pancreatitis (once every 2-3 years)

Great video. I actually had someone try to do a pig butchering scam on my last year. It followed the exact same pattern the John discussed. I ended up just losing interest in the conversation with this person before they tried to hook me onto one of those investing apps. Not sure if Last Week Tonight has already done this, but I would love to see a video about those scammers (mostly from India) who pretend to work for big tech companies and try to get access to your computer so they can take money from your bank account. There are a lot of videos on UKposts about people messing with these pond scum, so I think John Oliver's take on it would be hilarious.
