I'm all for not breaking an employees balls for doing their job, even when they're being an asshole while doing it. That said, I also really respect the discipline to; calmly, politely, and respectfully, turn the stupid plastic knives into their problem, because they decided to have a problem with the stupid plastic knives.

It's always interesting to see who's using encryption and who's not when I stay at hotels. Although my last hotel was interesting, the Flipper said the card was encrypted, and to touch it to the reader to get the key. Sure enough after touching it to the reader, i had a fully emulated card that would unlock the door.

@DeliveryMcGee6 годин тому
More profitable in the long run to teach the jewelry stores how to avoid theft. I mean, sure, knock over a Tiffany's, you think you'd get a big payout, but you have to fence the stuff, and the fence takes his cut, and you don't get the retail markup, and if you do it twice or get caught on camera Interpol puts you on primary-color status* and Tiffany's insurance company puts a bounty on your head ...

Blue: Let us know if you see this guy or have heard of where he might be, we'd like to have a little chat with him about his choices in life. Red: Arrest on sight or give us an address to point the local government's (or a member state's nearest plausibly-deniable) large scary men with submachine guns toward.

Hi, trans person here. I've thought about all this stuff in great detail, I've got parents phone numbers memorized (unlikely to be involved, but fully capable of getting into my accounts and/or bailing me out in case I get arrested), I've got a passport in the lockbox and while I don't have a second one, I've got a guy in HR at my employer who's willing to expedite a work visa in case things go south here and I need to transfer to the Canadian plant, I've always got picks and jigglers in my wallet and enough knowledge and practice to get in regardless of what's on hand, some cheap steel body armor and a $60 milsurp flak jacket to throw over it for anti-spall, and a budget-but-respectable gun collection with almost 2 decades of shooting experience and enough muscle memory that even after multiple years without much opportunity to practice I can still out-draw and out-shoot most gun people I know on the few occasions I get to go shooting. The lockbox is stashed with documents, a passport, a few hundred in cash, and an old credit card that I keep around cause while it's a worse card than my main one, there's no maintenance fees and $2000 credit in the case of wallet confiscation/theft/loss is extremely useful, and at my bank's ATMs it lets me get into my main account. There's also a checkbook in there for my checking, in case I run out of credit and can't get to my bank's ATM to transfer. There's a semi-decent IFAK on my cheap ALICE webgear, and in my various life iterations I've held first/second aid certifications under several different organizations (I can't remember which compressions-to-breaths ratio is correct anymore cause every teaching organization says a different number so I just say 30-to-2 cause that's the one that's recurred the most in trainings) so I know how to make things up on the fly - tourniquets always need a windlass so that's why my shoes are all laced with 550 cord and I've always got a Mini Maglite on me, and I know that if you slap duct tape/shipping labels/bumper stickers/etc. over a sucking chest wound, the blood dribble only lets it stick on 3 sides so it makes a one-way seal (hate that I had to use that one before, boy scout camp was wild lmao) and I spent a summer on a volunteer search-and-rescue team in a backcountry area along with many other first-aid occasions so I'm not inexperienced. Call it main-character syndrome but I've lived through a lotta stuff that my knowledge and experience has gotten me out of, and I've gotta say, there's no replacement for experience when it comes to learning how well things work. I'm prepared for anything that comes my way - don't get me wrong, it's gonna suck a lot and I ain't gonna be having fun, but I've got the confidence and skill to get out of it just cause I've been picking this stuff up since I learned how to read. I think I learned how to pick locks when I was 9, joined a shooting sports club in 3rd grade, grew up rural, and just generally retain skills well. I'm not an expert at much of anything but in a pinch I can just about make it work. I'm in my mid 20's and until I told em my coworkers thought I was in my late 30's just from the kinda wisdom I can do when provoked.

With all the stories of the radio-tag game, it seems like it'd be prudent to get an SDR dongle or a handheld so you can just listen in on the ramp/handler/staff frequency, most of which are publicly available and unencrypted. Bonus points if you can get, like, a light-sport pilot license so you're legally allowed to hit the transmit button. As a side note, it's kind of amazing to me how little effort criminals go through to understand how things work, I know it's a poverty-crime deal but they could at least learn about jiggler keys or the old coathanger-and-doorstop trick instead of just smashing your car window out, or make that coathanger into an under-door tool with some twine and be able to enter just about every commercial building. Guess the smart criminals graduate outta poverty crime to blue or white collar stuff once they get a couple good scores instead of just low-level grinding the glovebox burglaries and such.

might I recommend the Milwaukee m12 Fuel Electric die grinder? You can probably modify a collet to accept dremmel bits but also it's heavier duty, had larger batteries, and is amazing for cutting and grinding. Almost completely replaced my need for dremels, and when I do need one I usually use a foredom flex shaft.

As a former pilot for AAG. I can confirm that they leave entire carts of bags in locations, never update the central tracking system, and never update the cart location tag. Luckily for that example I got out of the flight deck walked over to the cart and looked at the tags. They were all supposed to go on the flight I was flying but the third party inter air baggage company employees didn’t care. Luckily the bags made it on because I found a solution, but that isn’t always possible.

I lived in an apartment building where virtually (sans any violence) the exact thing happened.. I came back from the bar quite happy and tipsy, went to the wrong floor and used my key to unlock and open their door... I pushed the door in, saw it was not my apartment and immediately closed the door, locked it and went to the correct one... next day I told the manager my story, they didn't believe me and unlocked their door, walked in on them randomly, immediately closed and locked.. then yelled at me and then we went and unlocked my door... she apologized very quickly after that.

@ToeCutter4542 дні тому
sounds like it went through x-ray and someone knew what was in it and was trying to steal it by hiding it away randomly in hopes the system showing it elsewhere would keep you occupied long enough or frustrated enough to just give up... this is actually pretty concerning since it's VERY obvious this wasn't a mistake... especially placing another bag on top of it as though they were going to likely try to say they were "together". the looks of some of the attendants here almost seem like they were partially in on it as well lol i wouldn't put it past them since it usually takes a network of people to do shady stuff... i don't trust people enough these days to be honest. you'd have probably gotten it faster if you shipped it through UPS or FedEx next day air.

So a device powered by a lithium battery. Ever see what a lithium battery thermal runaway looks like? I get the frustration with lost luggage but a lithium battery in the hold of an aircraft is not only unsafe, if it is damaged, it might make that flight your last flight along with everyone on the aircraft. I get the lost baggage issue but having worked in the aviation business for more than 25 years but it’s not worth the risk. Further it is contrary to regulations which are designed to aid a successful flight completion. My $.02 worth.

Those plug (barrell) pullers are not reliable, the part that touches the screw is not shaped to hug the head of the screw which leads to the head deforming then pulling off, I fashioned my own counter sunk stainless washer so that it seats the screw head nicely. The problem is though the hardened screws all have buggle heads rather than classic countersinking so they still deform a little. When the heads arent snapping they snap further down leaving a hardened screw stuck in the barrell, often with nothing to grab onto, a worse situation. When driving the screw in the lock, if it hits hardened pins the screw will snap. So it'll only reliably work on cylinders with no hardened material but these can easily be drilled anyway so this is only increasing the amount of equipment you carry.
