So sad James Cameron didn’t continue. Would have been so much better had he continued his vision.

I will forever refer to any shuttle-type mechanism as The Betty due to this film. (Even the one from Alien!)

The training device was not created by Lynch, it's there, in the start of the book, and also in one of the sequels.

Hi, I respect this review and found it interesting, but as a long time fan of this movie.... watched it in 1980 and an even bigger fan of it's soundtrack, I have to disagree with many points narrated herein; this movie is one of the best subtle horror stories and has successfully grown better as years have passed by.....currently 44 years and nobody can't let go of it. As to the soundtrack, we had to wait 32 years to finally liste to the track called Visiting Malone, included in the complete soundtrack, which happens the first time Mayor and her assistance arrive to visit father Malone ..... we insisted so much until John finally included everything.... so this film follows other you would call watchable, but not great movies, that I call in turn, great although many refused to accept, but never mind, time has proven us right... this movie is and will always be my favorite Carpenter movie and by far my favorite soundtrack.... if you have not watched it....just turn out thw lights and enjoy...and by Bejeezus, I do mean the 1980 version.... DO NOT watch the 2005 version, which is one of the worst remakes of all time
@sixeralex3 години тому
Just for the sake of those who really appreciate this soundtrack..... the track visiting Malone is also in another version, but with a different name... Stevie's lighthouse.... which has nothing to do with where that track appeared in the movie; the soundtrack is so good that even KAB tracks in the movie have a separate Utube site.... and lastly, John reshooting the ship, hospital and lighthouse scenes made this great

Robocop’s initial release suffered the same the thing as Judge Dredd’s initial comic book release…it was considered violent naff.

Just finished watching this movie, as a long time horror fan I can say it was awesome! Sad to hear it didn't do well when it was released. Shout out to Cannon Films for having the guts to do this flick.

I love all things Alien, the quadrilogy. I understand the criticism of #4 but I still like them all. Alien 3 is super IMO. Of course the original is best. You guys are funny and goofy!

Blade Runner and Dark City are sibling films. Two Sci Fi Noire films. Others may prod around the edges, borrow a few themes, but Blade Runner and Dark City embody wholly the Sci Fi Noire concept. Both master works.

The first two acts of this film were great, but it loses steam quickly in the end. I would easily characterize the third act as "deflated" and "anticlimatic". I also feel like the film is hindered by Spielberg's incessant need to hamstring in familial issues and split families. Loved it in ET, but just stop. We get it already, divorce was hard for Spielberg, but by the early-2000's it wasn't a unique perspective. As someone who grew up with divorce, there are plenty of stories out there for us. The son's contrived angst and the otherworldly maturity of the daughter that wanes like a cracked out moon where equally annoying. One minute, she's parenting her father, then the next, she's running out into the open to be snatched by aliens. Pick a lane! Also, whoever thought it was a good idea to make Tom Cruise a repugnant, immature mess needs to go to jail. Making us like a POS wasn't Tom's strong suit, especially after all the Scientology stuff came out before this film was made. Do I see Cruise as a likable a$$hole? No, I do not. I mean his career is now essentially being the oldest & highest paid stunt man, and not the best actor. So, take that how you will... This movie could've totally worked had they just made it a survival story, as opposed to a family drama.

I always called the segment of the Star Trek film series composed by II to IV the "Fall of the Enterprise trilogy", and for me IV was the perfect "breather episode" conclusion after two films in which the characters go through so much emotional distress.

While parts 2 and 3 are obviously a lot of fun, I never thought "Back to the Future" needed a sequel. It's just a perfect film - and as fun as the sequels are, they just can't touch the first one.

I rewatched this movie more than Alien, something like 3 vs 2 times or 4 vs 3. And Robocop is too stupid to watch from start to finish. From my view there are some strong double standards in general perception of old scifi movies.

I’ve seen Aliens many times. VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and Streaming. Honestly, though, I thought the 4K disc was pretty good and my new favorite transfer. The details and sharpness in certain scenes are unmatched. Is it as good as Alien on 4K? No, but then again, that transfer is a work of art and one of the best restorations ever made. Still, I think most people will be happy with Aliens on 4K.👍🏻
