Edmond Berger, a freed slave, invented the spark plug in 1839. Berger is credited with the invention even though he did not obtain a patent. The spark plug is a key component of all engines, using electricity to pass a spark between two electrodes to ignite fuel and generate power.

Biological males entering girls' athletic events is as crooked as using loaded dice or marked cards. Since the competition is nothing but a meaningless social justice ritual, the girls lose nothing.

Nikola Tesla patented the capacitor-coil-point switch ignition system in U.S. Patent 609,250, approved August 16, 1898. Tesla did not develop spark plugs, the ignition patent came when Tesla was developing electrical oscillators.

THE INVENTOR OF THE CERAMIC SPARK PLUG INSULATION IS LOUIS SEMPLE CLARKE, ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE PRESENT AUTOCAR TRUCK CORPORATION! THIS IS THE OLDEST EXISTING AUTOMOTIVE BRAND IN THE USA! CLARKE WAS THE FIRST TO ENCLOSE THE ENGINE CRANKCASE, AND USE AN OIL PUMP, CIRCULATING OIL, RATER THAN OIL DRIP CUPS AND GREASE CUP LUBRICATION! CLARKE ALSO INVENTED THE LONGITUDINAL ENGINE, CLUTCH, TRANSMISSION, AND CENTER DRIVE SHAFT TO AN DIFFERENTIAL DRIVELINE, AND ELIMINATING THE PREVIOUS ALL CHAIN DRIVES ON EARLIER AUTOMOBILES! CLARKE ALSO PERFECTED BATTERY ,COIL,POINTS AND CONDENSER IGNITION SYSTEM, RATHER THAN AN MAGNETO TYPE STSTEM! CLARKE IS LITERALLY THE ARCHITECT OF THE MODERN AUTOMOBILE, BUT IS NEARLY UNKNOWN TODAY!

Back in the early 70s there was some R&D work done with Beryllium Nickel alloys as a possible solution to the apex seal problem. To the best of my knowledge it was not successful. Part of the joy of materials science is the trial and error aspect of trying something a little different.

GM Cadillac AERA has existed as a concept car for 14 years. Apparently GM is not going to do anything with air motors at all. Sad, because the crap they've been spewing outta detroit for the past 100 years or so has helped to destroy the planet according to some people. Anyway it would be fun to run your ROTARY WANKEL AIRMOTOR on a 20,000+ psi CFC AIR PRESSURE TANK and in-hub WHEEL MOTORS for 1000 mile range per fill-up of PRESSURIZED AIR. The whole RECIPROCATING PISTON AIR MOTOR idea is OVER, so anyone focusing on that is simply SABOTAGING the AIR MOTOR INDUSTRY'S AMAZING POTENTIAL. The ROTARY WANKEL AIRMOTORS such as those developed by ENGINEAIR AUSTRALIA can solve our surface and aircraft transportation issues very quickly. THE NEW ROTARY WANKEL AIRMOTORS can be adapted to VTOL AIRCRAFT, as I mentioned to GM CADILLAC perhaps 15 years ago. Any company that focuses on ROTARY WANKEL AIRMOTOR VTOL AIRCRAFT will dominate the worldwide transportation industry for the next 100 years, or at least until "FIELD PROPULSION" technology is adequately developed.

ahhh, come on, how could anybody seriously believe in such a thing as a self-driving car? What would it do in a construction zone, or if a policeman was directing traffic, or in tight situations where a human has to think fast and make instant decisions, what come up in driving a car, all the time. Such as when another car cuts you off. Or a car is backing out of a driveway and doesn't see you. Or there's emergency vehicles coming and you have to pull over. Or somebody runs into you. Or the police want you (or the automatic car) to pull over? Or railroad crossings, how could the self-driving car handle THAT?

This channel is everything that's right with UKposts. This video was SO SIMPLE yet so informative, and as a hobbyist machinist, taught me the "Why" in relation to so many of the concepts which i already operate under. I cannot believe I'm just now seeing this - but it's one that will be watched over and over

Unless ALOT of improvement is made in the range, recharge time and price of electric vehicles the spark plug is not going to disappear any time soon.

13:00 you claim that higher octane is lower volatility. This is incorrect. Shorter chains have a higher octane rating AND are more volatile. Hence propane having >100 octane, while obviously far more volatile.

People only hate the catalytic converter because as the narrator said, it doesn't improve the cars performance for the car owner. What it DOES do is COST a lots of money as mechanics shoot expensive replacement parts at the car while trying to get the "engine light" to go out so the car can finally pass inspection.
