Everybody wants to talk about what a great poet Mr. Stipe is, but the fact that he felt the need to use a racial slur against Chinese people for absolutely no reason in this song shows how baseless and navel gazey these lines are. Patti smith did the same shit in Rock n Roll n****.. trying to be edgy by poking at racism and making 0 point, and in turn sounding racist. You’d think such great poets would have more tact and intention behind their words.
