For years I've had Autumn Leaves pop up in my head at random times, unsure of the song's origin, remembering only that my dad used to play it on piano in our living room all the time growing up. My father being a Bill Evans fan, it's no surprise that this is one of the songs he chose to play frequently. Now I would like to one day learn to play a nice rendition on guitar. It's a real joy finally knowing which song I so fondly (and randomly) remember.

Sublime. This was such a breakaway from what others were doing, and it could have been create yesterday...

Glenn Gould admired Bill Evans. Bill Evans admired Glenn Gould. What else is there to say? Bellissimo.

I’m learning to play Grant Green songs - he is more melodic and I take his figures and turn them into improvisational workouts

All over the place, without improvisation, how can anyone remember this stuff?

Bill went through some Payne in his later life. I wonder if it had to do with his artistic center?

love the tone of his guitar here ... I wonder which one it was? The photo seems to show almost a thinner body double cutaway. Anyway, whatever it was I like the tone. And obviously the playing :D

Bill Evans, Nothing short of (AMAZING) ever. One can clearly understand the bridge between him & Miles Davis! I call it **The Bridge of Genius** !!! ...
@bennymoore85934 місяці тому
Woo dude, very perceptive observation! That's the exact genius of Bill Evans & sets him apart. A distinct difference if you will !!!

I like Oscar Peterson. His music is foot-warming and cheerful. It swings. But Bill Evans really annoys me. He's a whole downer. His whole demeanour is lifeless and depressing. And this comes through in his playing. I think he'd benefit from a kick up the ass. 😮

I've tried and tried with Grant but it won't do. I find him ploddy, stiff, lacking swing and those irritating repetitive phrases make me want to scream.

his playing is perfect, this is soul cleansing... interplay between the 3 is also amazing as well

It’s a cold wet dark stormy Winter night in Scotland. I’m cozy indoors with the rain battering off the window, I’m surrounded by colourful warm lights. My 2 year old Daughter is sleeping in my arms on the sofa. We’re snuggled up in blankets, my Wife is sitting next to us working on her laptop. Monk is on the TV. I’m listening to this album on my headphones. Life is perfect right now. Thank you Universe! 🙏🏽🌀🤍

I always liked Grant Green. My first time hearing this. I play off, mostly off, and on but my teacher said I have some Grant Green qualities. I love Django. I feel like I’m hearing Django in this.
