I'll give points for it being a neat idea but I wouldn't rely on it since it either uses bluetooth or built in wifi for communication. For the commercial places I work those signals would never make it through the metal and brick walls between electrical rooms. We''re better off with a circuit tracer or some one just yelling across the hall.

Very nice vid. I suspect using a B1, vs B2, B3 or B4 "lead" might make a difference. Maybe the B4 has more graphite and being softer might make a better outcome. Or worse. Seems a simple expirement for someone here to test and post the results.

Safety tip 1: use lead free solder! lead is incredibly poisonous to humans, and should not be handled needlessly, and never without protective gear. Doubly so if you are pregnant!
