I totally agree with the streak thing on Duolingo. But some language learning materials are so weird...I was learning French the other day, and it suddenly told me to make a sentence like "My cat is eating my boyfriend". It happens a lot(Sometimes it might not seem that ridiculous. ) Is it just for fun so that it can draw user's attention? But it's really hard to tell if the sentence being shown can be used noramlly in daily conversations since I'm not a native french speaker. Anyway, I still like the way that Duolingo provides us to learn a foreign language.

The "Israeli" had grandparents that were Zionist pioneers that established the kibbutz he was born in? And his father was a farmer in that occupied land? He seems like he is very proud of the fact that they were part of the violence against the Palestinians in 1948. And the so called Palestinian is listening to this being okay with the Israeli taking over his land by force? Allies? Wow TED, this video is very misleading.

And do you really think that such efficiency advantages that AI systems like this will allow teachers to have more free time or be able to work more closely with each student? Of course not. What such systems really afford is for school districts to radically increase class size and reduce the number of costly teachers. Taxpayers will be overjoyed at the savings. Plus, given AI's geometric growth speed, ultimately, we either won't need teachers at all, or at least people trained in pedagogy to teach our children. OK, that sounds like the rant of a Luddite, but can anyone actually deny the high probability that this will actually happen? Of course, Sam Khan, and the other corporate owners, will do well in this new AI world.

All the butthurt failed artists are flocking to this comment section, it seems. AI art is mid and if you are being threatened by it, your art was never good enough in the first place.

The reason why humans can do things so much easier is we have millions of years of evolution on our side. Our brains have evolved tremendously. Also, even with our good hardware, babies spend a lot of time training to gain the competence that they have. Many of the AI models like chatGPI can a lot of strength from simply being really big. A brute force solution. There are many technicality’s that these models have gained over time like the ability to focus their attention etc. But they are far inferior to the humans brain. AI has much more strength but lacks intricate structure our brain has and is why it struggles with the fine details.

Is buying a commission from an artist make you an artist? Because the same logic applies. Both commissioner and so called ai artist say something or someone to drawn or generate that thing and they get the result. @@Ruby_Villain

God loves you and takes care of you so that this message reaches you. God is the one who created this great universe and has complete control over it. And the greatest loss that a person loses in this life is that he lives while he does not know God who created him, knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. The great intelligence, before you believe in something or not, is to read it, study it, and understand it well, and then you have the choice to believe in it or not. I advise you on this now before you do not have time to do that.

But surely the massive point being missed here is 'bad actors' - whether rogue states or corporations - creating dystopian AI's that no one can control. AI regulation will only happen in countries and apply to corporations that adhere to the rule of law, otherwise, we're looking at an AI Wild West (or more likely East). In this context, the genie has already escaped the bottle. The global military-industrial complex must already be all over this.

We aren't used to sharing words like "curiosity", "creativity", "opportunity", "hope", "empathy", "kindness". We've never had to fit these words to a third foot at the bottom of a fifth leg. There will be so much vertigo involved, we will wonder what those words even mean any more when we apply them to ourselves. Those words are not a stable reference frame. We will never get our description of the AI landscape right until _after_ we figure out how to best redescribe ourselves. Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy flight.

Why does this guy want every AI we use to talk like a person or be "our colleague"? Except for video games, I want the software I interact with to be cold, efficient and for it to get to the point, I don't want it to call me by my name and ask me how was my day every time I ask it to do something. In fact, the less it talks and the less it looks like a person the better.

One of the safe guards I feel is not prevalent enough is having AI prevent the mimicry of present day creatives (authors, artists, musicians, poets, comedians, etc). It's one thing to ask AI to act like Socrates so you can have a philosophical conversation. It's an entirely different thing to have AI write a novel as if it were George R.R. Martin, or have it draw illustrations as if it were Frank Miller. My career is not art related, but I have a great appreciation for the dedication and effort put into it to build a unique style that is recognizable. I can't imagine what it would be like to spend a lifetime creating art, only to have the entirety of it fed into an AI within seconds (without your consent of course) and able to mimic the style (to an extent) from a simple prompt.
