What kind of pick would we be using for this type of playing. My playing ends up much more aggressive, would a more flexible pick be a better fit?

This is a rad solo well well well well done. You play it very close to how I do and think he plays it as well. The live version pulse is my favorite.

Nice job. I don't play the guitar except that I did pick up an acoustic guitar for one summer to familiarize myself with the fretboard so that as a piano player I would understand what the guitarist is thinking and doing. I always wanted to figure out how Greg Lake bent that G in this song. You explained it and demonstrated it perfectly. Thanks, Fezzy

I learned this song years ago from some guitar magazine. It was the best transcription I could find back then. It was close...It wasn't perfect, but it did the job. And I just assumed that was because the studio recording was heavily overdubbed and there was no possible way to play it any better with just one guitar. I started playing it again today because I want to record it, and I was finally fed up with it not sounding good enough. And my very first thought was "Andy HAS to have a video on this. I bet HE plays it correct." And, of course, I was right :) Another amazing lesson. Thank you Andy!

Gratitude Supreme: my appreciation to you is by magnitude beyond thanks. I leave my Ovation in this tuning & my Taylor's and others now need not be changed! Tried it on Mandolin, other 6 string methods...this is authentic as it gets!

I appreciate the fact that you selected an Ovation for this - staying true to the guitar Lindsay originally used when they recorded the tune (rumor has it the guitar was an Ovation 1621-4). Thanks for spending time on this one - it’s an epic song and you did a great job commingling the different parts to pull it off without layering!

My favourite beatles lyrics... pure genius and jai guru deva 🕉 that 6ths intro is only normal cause they came up with it...no one had heard it before... such a good composition...I'm disappointed on John's behalf if he felt it needed more effort than it was given... imagine (pun intended) if it was all he wanted it to be... i mean it's awesome anyway but imagine all the people... ok l laboured that joke! Thanks for your work Andy!❤

Hello there. I'm 62 years old and was around when Hotel California was first released in 1977. So I've always been aware of this song. I have always played the guitar a "bit", licks and riffs and stuff. Recently I met a guitarist for jams etc. He suggested we learn HC. I had to kiss a lot of frogs before I came to you!! I learnt HC from your great tutorial. I think that your tutorial is the best. I must admit, I didn't realise that HC was all finger picking patterns. Never the less, I have learnt HC but of course I will now have to cycle it hundreds of times before I can say that it's fluid. Keep up the great work that you are doing!!!

I think of you as a songwriting teacher. I’ve learned my theory elsewhere, but you give me the ability to play the sound I wish to replicate in a way I can deconstruct the theory, and that allows me to find balance between creativity and theory. Thank you !
