I took one look at the thumbnail and instantly recognized the Meriwether Lewis Campground. I've camped there many times. It's a beautiful place, it's free, and usually it's quiet. Oddly, I've never seen a ranger at the campground itself, but occasionally I see them on the Natchez Trace parkway in that area. If you wander out of the campground about half a mile you'll see the monument marking the grave of Meriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clark fame, who died there under mysterious circumstances in 1809. For people just looking for RV info, there are actually three campgrounds operated by the National Park Service on the Natchez Trace: Meriwether Lewis at Milepost 386, Jeff Busby at Milepost 193 and Rocky Springs at Milepost 54. The last two are both further south in Mississippi. If you need to grab some food, Hohenwald "Hole-in-the-wall" Tennessee is about a ten minute drive to the west. Laurel Hill Lake is a nice state-owned fishing lake about fifteen minutes to the south.

Good video. I live in New York. If you try to park over night at a Walmart here, you get the cops called on you for trespassing. On a side note, Cracker Barrel restaurants encourage you to stay there over night. Some will even let you plug in if they can accommodate it. Best wishes.

I know here in Ontario Canada it's illegal to dam any waterway unless you have a permit and then again the dam must allow proper fish passage. I'm not sure if this dam was built by you or by the local government. But this wouldn't fly in Ontario even tho this dam is a cool looking dam

I have spent the night in that very same rest area pull out outside of West Yellowstone. And I also have spent a week or so in Bakers hole campground in 2020 when you were there. Now I believe you can make reservations in it, but I dry camp 95% of the time. Thanks for the video.

That’s too bad that they told you that they had steam cleaned the radiator in your prior episode when obviously the only way to do that is remove it like they did this time. That’s why you never want to let a small boil leak go, especially on a rear Radiator diesel pusher. I’m glad you got it fixed.

Thanks for the video. I know this is four years ago when you did this do you guys still have your motorhome. I have a 2000 Monaco Dynasty and I’m so happy that I have a side, Radiator that doesn’t pick up near the amount of crap blowing into the radiator. I hope it is still treating you well.

I notice that the spring and pump are open to contamination by erosion from nearby terrain, animals, leaf/vegetation etc. I'm thinking it might be a good idea to isolate the spring head/opening and your pump with a concrete enclosure

You will need a MUCH larger diameter shaft and bearings (2-3"). Also, wood, instead of the pillow block bearings, will last longer and require less service.

pushing 24vdc that far you gotta increase the conductor size up to 1awg to get down to a 3% drop - best /cheapest way to go was to place the invertor near by - less than 20 feet away - next change the plume to a pipe - same size as your water wheel - extended to approx 1 - 1:30 o'clock with a 90 degree elbow on end with it barely clearing the edge of wheel - NO NOT switch to chain it won't last a year before seizing

If you’re thinking of doing something different with the water wheel maybe check into a vortex turbine style setup. I know there are a few companies that make them for small scale hydro like this

Wow that price should have included a new rad. Your fan should kick in at 205 degrees. Next time your key gets stuck in your jeep , try just moving the steering wheel, sometimes the cogs for the lock do not line up. Safe journeys, thanks for posting these video's, its a learning experience for everyone.

Always transmit electricity (more than a few feet) with A/C and switch to DC if necessary at the point of usage.

Why not use PC pipe in front of the shoot with an elbow PC pipe let the fall straight into the wheel it should run faster. Then you connect everything back with a sprocket and chain or old bicycle pedal cam from the scrap yard. In stead of these of these big wheels.

What a nice location for a piece of property. With that volume of water I can just picture a couple more ponds downstream just to hold the water in the land instead of letting it all run down to the river.

In principle, the waterwheel doesn't look bad, it is well built, but when it was built, no one knew how it worked. Straight blades with an efficiency of 30 to 40 percent would be suitable for an undercutting wheel. Here it is installed as an overshot wheel, which is said to have an efficiency of 50 percent if the straight blade were converted into a chamber. I think that adding a - I'm guessing - 2 to 3 inch wide board to each blade would change this wheel to utilize not only the pressure of the water jet, but also the weight of the water. This modification of the wheel blade to a shovel with an L-shape would help to use the additional energy stored in the weight of the water for almost half a turn of the wheel. The flume (the position of it looks right) could be improved by installing an adjustable gate at the end of the flume, with the clear cross-section (width of the opening) only being 80 percent of the width of the waterwheel. The adjustable height of the opening under the outlet gate at the end of the flume should be (I estimate) about 1 inch or so. In this way, the flume is filled and the water pressure accelerates the water to from a jet, allowing it to fill the chambers without causing major spill. To achieve a good momentum, the wheel's modified chambers should be about 30-40 percent full of water. I hope my explanations will be helpful for your interesting project. Greetings from Austria! Peter 😀 PS.: The idea with the solenoid with a big heat sink should not switch off - but should swich on a waterheater used as breaking load ...

People are correct about running AC. DC has a lot of restriction because of the way the current flows. The distance you are running the wires you are likely getting a very large voltage drop with DC.
