One big differece: You can use Facebook (Meta) Portal without a smart phone/phone number. We have a relative in a foreign country. He is disabled and has extremely poor fine motor control so swiping, accurately hitting buttons on a screen, etc. are beyond him. There is also a problem maintaining a phone number in a foreign country. Where he is, someone would have to go to an Oxxo store to pay every month, or have the app on a phone there to pay and his disability makes that impossible. Bottom line, the Portal is the only current way we can keep in touch with him: it is set up, connected to power and wifi, and he can give voice commands to call us or answer our calls. There is literally no other option not tied to a phone, the phone's address book, etc. I'm sorry Facebook has decided not to make Portals anymore so I'm going to stock up on units.

UGH! In the last couple years Echo Show devices have just become Amazon billboards for obnoxious ads. There's no longer any way to disable those ads. DO NOT buy these, Amazon should pay you monthly to own these. There will be nothing but ads on those hubs before you know it. NO WAY F AMAZON! I used to love having my photos and the weather alternating on my Show devices. Had to set them to nighttime sleep mode 23:59:00 a day and on the lowest brightness to keep using the speaker without seeing ads all day.

If youre in the US, Meross smoke detectors wont qualify for the return policy. different fire safety standards for different countries. I ordered 3 and was going to use a usbc to power the hub and get rid of the UK power adapter. they dont offer US power adapter. My order was running late so i emailed the company and they told me about not qualifying for the return policy so instead of taking a chance, i cancelled my order. looking for an alternative within the same price range. also I dont think Bosch ships to US either.
