Прекрасный джаз от замечательного Билла. Не плоский, не салат из навыков - а настоящее повествование, история, создающая настроение.

They was a genuine musical meeting of kindred spirits between Evans and Zetterlund. A musician that worked with her later said: "It wasn't easy to play the piano with Monica not being Bill Evans". She always said that the album they made together was the best she ever did and it was really done in no time, cause she was acting in a comical review at the time (1964). It's also known that she was shaking by nerves before the first take at the album, because she admired Bill Evans as a musician so much. The album wasn't her idea, the producer Göte Wilhelmsson sent a copy of her singing Waltz for Debby with the Swedish lyrics to Bill Evans who was fresh out of rehab. He loved it and said he would come to Sweden and cut an album with his group and Monica. And it happened. It's so wonderful that it did, because Monica really had a fantastic career in Sweden, but to her this was her finest hour.

As an abstract painter 👨🏾🎨 I am absolutely delighted mesmerized and star struck at the brilliance and talent and precision of bill in this work. I aspire to create something that impacts people like this so many years from now! I’m so moved by this work it damn near brings me to tears. Elsa is a breathtaking. I can feel his deep passion in every note. I’m only 42 years old but I’ve come back to this recording many times over the past 5 years

With all of the adoring praise and respect this man earned in his life it is still a mystery why he was so miserable. I guess it’s the residual effects of heroin. I will never respect this aspect of this man. He threw his life away. There is no excuse for this. To work as hard and as passionate as he did he owed himself and all of us more than 51 years.

They should say this concert/session took place in Madrid, Spain, December 1979. I was 18, and was there almost by chance, a friend had an uncle who was an Evans fan and directed us. Balboa jazz was a night club, the best in Madrid at that time. Despite our age, I could feel and enjoy Bill's magic. I was a huge fan since then and my friends, six brothers, were all mad about his music even before. B.E. and Steely Dan were coming into age milestones for us. I don't remember whether the Balboa session (maybe there were two sessions, I only attended one) was part of Evans' initial European program, I sort of remember either Madrid or Rome were improvised. The Madrid session was recorded by a RTVE technician, but was initially lost and not published. It reappeared copied in some italian record company, with worse quality of sound and not mentioning Madrid. Finally, a cleaner version was published. We craved for any recording of this Madrid concert, his best one with Johnson and LaBarbera. Evans died nine months later. And some time later, Pat Metheny came to Madrid and played "We will meet again", Evans composition after the death of his brother Harry. I had the chance to briefly meet Pat since I had a girlfriend who was in charge of arranging accomodations for visiting musicians. Pat was wearing his unmistakely sailor/Picasso shirt. When one hears Bill Evans Madrid concert at the Balboa Jazz, one can feel the concentrated sadness and despair, but also the magic of existence always waiting there, after every silence. Lots of love for Bill. Loving his music is to love life.

Bill Evans is the pianist who, when he plays, makes you philosophize about existence itself. The "dialectic" between the piano and Bill is so profound that when you listen to it, your mind immediately begins to interact with the "world of ideas" where, according to Plato, there are two types of realities: the sensible, which is perceived with the senses, and the intelligible, where ideas exist. Bill's music provokes the mind to enter these realities, generating a hermeneutic between what is heard and what is perceived. Resulting in the need to keep listening in order to understand nature. Regards.

В музыке Билла Эванса нет джазовых стандартов, навязчиво "виснущих на ушах". Как это бывает у других джазовых музыкантов. Билл Эванс - музыкант и композитор - единственный! неподражаемый! Гений! 🎉💖🌹

What a pity such a historic event was recorded with the lowest fidelity eqpt available. Was expecting tube telefunken mikes on a tube recorder like Bill's other albums of the early 60's. Will skip buying this cd. More like listening to an old radio broadcast!
