After listening to your rant I'm glad that I stopped watching it. But thanks for your update! I watched a video about Callum and Rayla and their relationship through seasons 1-5 and I was very confused about seasons 4 & 5. It seems like the show took a bad turn.

Also the stupidass library thing when the dragon queen gets bitten and corrupted when these idiots could've just come back to the library tomorrow morning. And how did they know to go to the library at all? The writing in this season is so frustrating

Honestly IMO s5 should've also ended with a loss for our main characters too, it would've been really interesting to me to see first of all a bigger fight scene for the S5 finale and also Claudia still lose her leg (as it's an important detail) but have the pearl and go crazy the next season trying to figure out how to use it and her just be completely nuts by the end of the series, like Azula in ATLA, her character would have so much more depth and be so much more interesting and also show the lengths she would go to to unleash pure evil on the human world aka "an actually good antagonist"

They did the same thing with dragon ball z. In Super, they took the maturity completely out of the show and made everyone dumb and pointless. There doing this with other show as well. I don't think this is a coincidence.

It's nice to see some well reasoned criticism of TDP. I totally agree the show peaked with S3. When S4 finally came out it seemed no one wanted to hear anything negative about it. The online community just defended it uncritically, like they were just so glad to finally get another season that they didn't care if it was good or bad. Like you said, S5 was better but still not as good as it could have been. The issues you pointed out with Ezra, Rayla and Zubea were all serious flaws in the story. I guess my biggest disappointment is how they destroyed Rayla and Callum's relationship in a comic book tie in, and still have not fixed it. I've said with regard to a number of other franchises, it's like creatives can't or won't write healthy, long term romantic relationships. Everyone betrays or abandons their partner/wife/family. Usually between seasons or movies. 😢

Can we also talk about how there is like 4 to 5 good fight scenes in all of season 4 and 5. Like come on calum HAS FUCKING MAGIC AND ALMOST NEVER USES IT. It drives me nuts when he just sits in a corner waiting for some female character to rescue him. I hate the trope of female characters only being there to be rescued so why would i like it when the gender is reversed. Other than that I agree with all of this but for me its ten times worse. I have to force myself to watch the seasons and it fucking sucks.

Really dislike how the new Junpei is trying to mimick Vic's performance but with a more neutered script. Vic had an amazing performance but it just doesn't work to replicate a performance that wasn't even a replication of the Japanese.

Season 4 sucked season 5 I loved also verin had a good side story

Dragon prince suffer from marvel syndrom poor writting due to "multiverse" : If you wanna know this read this book, if that interest you it's in that comic... Therefore a 3rd of the show is suck out from it in marketing .and what happen it, as to acknowlege weird little side tales that are not side tales but are not in the show. End of the story Avatar series ended before expended universe, dragon prince started with it with no time to mature first.

I rlly miss the first 3 seasons. S4 was a huge let down and S5 was ok.. ig? Me and this group of friends younger sister ( my age) and her older brother ( 2 years older) used to have sleepovers and binge watch this show. But we started to realize that the show was progressively getting more childlike and we stopped watching it all together.. AND FINALLY SOMEONE TALKED ABOUT THE NOVEL OF CALLUM AND RAYLA AND CLAUDIA’S AND VIRENS ELF HATRED. I feel sad about the characters relationships. I think I feel most sad about Rayla’s and Callums relationship it just has this underlying toxicity. I hope coming seasons will progressively improve but I don’t think anything special will happen anymore.

On one hand, we will miss the OG voices. On the other hand, Kaggy is voicing Akihiko.
