I joined the marine corps for the pride and difficulty. I thought i was hot shit when i got to MOS school and had all Navy classmates. Until i met someone in class that was a BUDs drop because he broke his leg. He made it through hell week and got hurt shortly after. He came to Marine PT with us in the morning of his own free will, and we ran to the point of half the platoon having shin splints. We ran 6-8 miles 5 days a week, usually in cammies and boots and carrying dummies or logs as a squad. He ran fucking circles around us. I was 18 years old and in incredible shape, my 3 mile time was around 18 minutes and some change. He could outrun, outlift, outspeed me in every conceivable way. Absolute monster

For the guys that are still alive I wonder if they are now dealing with the damage they did to their bodies from this type of stuff...Their "mental barriers" are probably not handling the blown shoulders and knees very well.

The difference is the same as between rich people and the poor/middle class. They don’t go searching for motivation because whether they want to do something or not they have a purpose and they don’t need it. Motivation is just a bonus.

Unfortunately Kate Fleming, the narrator for this documentary was tragically killed when she was caught in a flash flood and trapped in her basement in 2006. Such a wonderful artist taken too soon. RIP Kate

Hi, I’m a woman in her 20s and I’m training to become a U.S. Navy SEAL. What advice would you give for women that want to be SEALs? If you had to go to BUD/S again, how would you prepare differently? What books or workout programs would you recommend? Most female SEAL candidates struggle with carrying the boats and logs, doing pull ups, having grip strength and completing the “Dirty Name” on the obstacle course. Also, a lot of female SEAL candidates break their legs or develop stress fractures. A woman made it to day 4 of BUD/S first phase recently but she quit on that day. That’s the farthest a woman has made it. Her BUD/S classmates told me that her class hated her and ran her out from under the boat because she was a boat ducker. Nine women have entered the SEAL pipeline since 2016.

Heavy compound lifts like males, I like kettlebells. I'm against any reg that says you can't join the seal pipeline but most these guys are 150 to 180 lean. Muscle mass is important for SF selection and males naturally have more, I wish you luck.

Women aren’t built for this program. It’s physically hard enough for males let alone females. You gotta think too- if you pass the program you still need to integrate into a team. Which is the hardest part. They won’t be accepting of you because of the climate that’s been created in business and the military between men and women. These are tier 1 alpha males. Most would be in unaccepting because they’d be scared a woman would file a sexual harassment claim against them, at any time. One more thing men going to combat would have to worry about. Would you be able to handle the constant mental and physical pressure during your career? BUDs isn’t even the hardest part. Would you be able to handle men yelling at you and tearing you down at all times? Would you be able to handle feeling like an outcast until you prove you can be trusted? If they ever learn to trust you? You’ll always be viewed different because a woman has never been a SEAL.

BUD's isn't the "Only military training where Officers and Enlisted men are trained together", where the lady narrating the documentary got that? She is absolutely wrong on that.

There’s not. This video for years keeps getting taken down for copyright infringement. This channel has said for years he’ll keep uploading every time they take it down. It was also shot 20 years ago, so until someone reloads it into 4k or 1080 we’ll have to just enjoy this version.

Is anyone else shocked by how... informal this all seems? I'm only 30 minutes in, to be fair, but I think it's interesting how it compares to the typical "boot camp" experience I've seen of super rigid tasks, lots of yelling, berating, etc.
@chrisallen9509
@chrisallen9509 Місяць тому
I saw an interest comment on here which sort of summed it up, basically they don’t need to yell since the pain speaks for itself. It’s far scarier when your instructors aren’t yelling
@rsdiegos

And when they do yell it is very intimidating since it is so rare. For instance at 35:35

@BostonsF1nest
@BostonsF1nest 26 днів тому
Their training doesn’t stop here lol. This is just the initial program to become a SEAL. BUDs doesn’t teach you how to be a SEAL. You’re far from knowing everything there is to know once you pass. There’s still SQT and many other specific training programs after you get your trident.
