Hey Zenva. Nice explanation here. Just getting started with Photon, so this was quite useful for the high level patterns and terminology. Really appreciate that you went over all the different targets. Have you been using Photon recently? Is it still in wide use or has it changed much? I'm just looking around and researching it as I'm using it for a Mixed Reality project.

@7:10 you don't need to explicitly type tile_map, the type is properly inferred from $TileMap (it wouldn't be if you'd use get_node() as it returns just Node). Same with mouse_pos and tile_map_pos (type is inferred from return types of functions you call)

Thanks for appreciating this. We have been using light mode for that reason for years, but most of our audience has been loud and clear they prefer dark mode, so we have made the switch already a few months ago. We did run the dark theme through WCAG AAA accessibility test and it passed, that was not the case a few years ago when we chose light theme as the default

You don't *have to* to change the Z index, things are drawn in the order they are defined. If the player node is "above" Tilemap (as it is), it will be drawn first, then Tilemap is drawn next, obscuring the player. This should be the case for tilemap layers as well.

True but z-layers are definite and will work always period. It will work no matter how large or complicated your project is so it's better to use z-layers. You can also organise your nodes easily when using z-layers vs not, so i think it's a no-brainer

Godot is simply not a good choice for new developers. It is not rounded of software do mot have enough 3rd party asset support. It is the current cool toy but simply not a good choice for new devs. Unity and unreal are much better options

It's probably the best engine for beginners idk what you're yapping about. Unity is confusing and slow and unreal is like 50 gigs, coded with a language that is notoriously hard to work with and overall it's often super overkill for small projects

Thank you for this video! It was so useful I was able to use it for 3D collisions too, I just used the 3D objects and Vecter3 instead of 2D object and Vector2s, and it worked like a charm! :)

for anyone receiving this error SCRIPT ERROR: Parse Error: Cannot call non-static function "get_noise_2d()" on the class "FastNoiseLite" directly. Make an instance instead. just add @tool at the top of the script, before "extends" and "class_name".
