This is why i like the slayer class in pathfinder and the 2e version of ranger which uses a similar mechanic. Instead of just being racist, they chose a particular creature to hunt (and they can hunt something they haven't seen, just found some kind of track) and gain their favored bonuses against them until they kill them or abandon the hunt.

For all the people taking this seriously, favored enemy/foe represents a familiarity with a specific type of creature's weaknesses, not necessarily hatred. Also, it's funny how often favored enemy: human is a great choice.
