Awesome video, Thank you! now consider part-2... which of these "cleaned" springs (in the future going forward) will rust most/first... so hang them up for like 12 months (same conditions) and lets see. I'll bet you will see many views, your consistent tests and same size samples are key!

Great Video! I use the HF Blaster like you pictured. When I do springs I pull apart with brake pliers to get at all the areas.

I loved your comparisons of everyday items you probably already have at home to remove rust from small pieces. However, you didn’t show how to use on large items or items you can’t take apart. I have lawn art figures that have rusted and not sure how to tackle them. Any suggestions are welcome 😊

You missed the very best , which is TA-Daaa-- MOLASSES. Mix a gallon of Water to a pound of molasses and dissolve by agitation. Soak the metal parts for a couple of weeks/months and the rust just washes off back to bright steel snd most metals too. I use it on my cementing tools, rusty maintenance tools and 'found items. It doesn't harm wood or plastics either. For convenience I have a ten gallon beer maker barrel that I just dump stuff into as needed. When I have time on a weekend I remove the liquid into a drum to retrieve the steel, wash with the hose and give everything a quick wipe with a brillo pad or steelwool and then spray WD 40 for keeps. I reuse the molasses liquid for the better part of a year, adding a pint of extra molasses whenever. When I do decide to get rid of that brew, I have found it makes an excellent garden fertiliser when poured out of a watering can at 10:1 then watered into the lawn, soil and off the leaves. Molasses is ten bucks for 4 gallons at your local horse feed store. Bring your own drum.

So did the Muriatic acid start at 31% and you cut in in half with water, correct? So about 15%. Only took two hours? Thank you for the demonstration!

Ketchup is a cheater. It has vinegar in it.

My concern is what after effects some of these methods/chemicals have. I hear some can cause brittleness and other reactions. I see many using a wire brush to clean after soaking, where some say this causes grooves or something, that causes more rust. I think I'll go with the vinegar, wipe with a cloth, then lubricate with oil. The end.

I did not read all the comments but I have used black strap molasses in water at a 10;1 ratio. I used a wide mouth gallon glass jug poured the 12 oz of molasses in and fill the rest with water. Maybe a little slower than vapo-rust but it did the job. It is a chelation process. FYI, since molasses is a natural substance you will get a scum formed on the top of the water, just scoop it off. it's also biodegradable.

<Nodding head> useful information, especially for me, i live alongside a sea shore, and the maintenance on my galvanized trailers is very high, especially the boat trailer. I've just brought new ,replacing the old trailers. Things like springs and bolt heads show rust signs very early. Tools in the shed all need treatment and painting often. Thanks <Smiling> like & subscribed

Did you had any "issue" after (few hours) the withdrawing of the item? I personnally had rust coming back about 1 hour after removal from vinegar.. is it normal?
