ask JK Rowling or Robert Galbraith about what constitutes great writing. what one editor rejects another declares genius.

Kinda ironic that they would talk about writing techniques intended to help you hook the writer and then talk about techniques to write articles in a way to keep people clicking and reading in a pejoratif light like it's such a different thing

Most of today's pathetic writers are anti-communist but they would benefit from communism where citizens were given free literature

To all the arrogant know-it-alls: If you knew even the bare basics about high-altitude climbing and what is actually happening to your body, you would refrain from commenting. Also, the north side's Second Step and the summit ridge knife's edge is something you should learn about mainly from climber's videos. It's also important to watch an entire climb in order to understand that these are men who run 10K daily and climb regularly before joining an expedition to the Himalayas. Most work several jobs, before they can afford the equipment, travel costs, paying the sherpas, etc.

Although I am not a climber but more of an adventure seeker. I remember a quote I heard years ago by a famous world class climber. ‘The definition of ‘True Adventure’ is when the outcome is not known’ I have always believed this statement. When rescue is an option, you are not experiencing ‘True Adventure’.

Mallory wasnt stupid, he wrote about how he didn't favor the ridge route. I think it very unlikely that the ridge was his route especially with Irvine with him. Far more realistic to take the couloir route with Irvine.

When Rita talks about her music and career, I find her interesting and soft-spoken. But I find it disingenuous that she refers to Kris Kristofferson as her "favorite ex-husband" when her portrait of a man she says she is a "good friend " with whom she shares a daughter and 3 granddaughters and a "blended" family is utterly hateful. When she wrote her book, they had been DIVORCED for more than 30 years, and he was eighty years old and suffering considerable memory loss, and she tore him apart. Her portrait was vicious, and from other sources available, some of what she said was not true or at least filled with half-truths. It's kind of like Rashomon -- everybody sees their own truth, and the real truth is likely in the middle. But I have really had very little use for her because of the way she portrayed him in her book. I cannot imagine that the man she is describing to this interviewer (as opposed to the man she described in her book) was not really hurt by the book.

Thank you so much for posting these and for leaving the old ones online. I’ve been attending the world tour screenings every year for about 10 years, and each year I share these links with family and friends to get them motivated to come with me or to go to the festival in their own towns. Also, I rewatch them during the year because the films so inspirational. I did not have a chance to visit the Center the last time I was in Banff, but it’s certainly on my list for next visit. Thanks again.
