I can't remember if it was Ronnie Montrose or Rick Derringer who said they wanted to be the best guitarist in the world - but found out it was a big world. Big world meant 1977.

Crazy thing is I went to this concert for my birthday, which is the next day on the fourth. I never knew this existed. This is the only time I ever saw Ronnie Montrose my friend bought tickets. It was at a theater maybe the Palladium or something like that, I don’t remember cause I was drunk, but I do remember the white pants and his red shirt and I didn’t know any other music time was a great, what a great guitarist RIP Ronnie RIP🙏

Everyone who is saying Chapman was as good or even better then Schenker don’t realize what made Schenker’s playing so great. It was never about speed or crazy guitar stunts, it was the emoting. This guitar solo has no feeling at all, other than a bunch of triplets. Michael used all, kind of staccato, and perfectly placed pauses and purposely playing a clock behind the beat. His playing had differences that is something you can’t teach. You either have it or you don’t and Schenker’s had it in spades. Just listen to his solo in this song on Strangers In The Night and listen to the pauses, pinch harmonics at the perfect time. It’s impossible to follow Michael on any of his songs. Michael had a lot of personal demons and could be a real jerk and I feel sorry for the rest of the band having to deal with his antics, but unable to really replace him since he was a one of a kind guitarist that come along rarely. His brother was far more stable, but nowhere near the same level of guitar player.

My aunt took me to Soldier Field in Chicago to see Ted. It was an early 13th birthday present. R.E.O. was there on their Two tour,Lynyrd Skynyrd was so fkn amazing,but Ted was on his Free for All tour. I still relive every second of that show. Ted had me hooked before I saw him,but after that he was the only god for me. 51 more shows through the years and still can't get enough. Thank you Ted you sure in the hell made my life awesome. See you when you get back to Chi Town.
