Hi Abroad in Japan, So here’s the thing, we are three old brothers from Canada (Québec-french speaking) who will be setting foot down on Japanese soil in October. In a nut shell, we (I) would very much like for you to be our ‘’guide for a day’’ (or two or three) in Tokyo or Kyoto. That said, is this something you do? If so, please get in contact. If not, my greatest apologies… Best regards, French Canadian JP PS: That being said, how the hell does that shit work?

I assume the main reason they might have long and unnecessary interactions over very simple things is to fill the void of absolute isolation and solitary life led by many Japanese people, you might have blessed that person with some real human interaction, we must always be aware of the human condition from different cultures.

They have the equivalent of a hostesses clubs in Thailand. Karaoke bars. If you go to ones for the locals, it's cheap. $30 for the whole night. If you go to the ones for foreigners, the sky is the limit in terms of cost.

The general consensus is that Japan is very safe and comfortable as you've said here, but a lot of the people who talk about visiting and living in Japan, also including you, are men. I know that gender equality in Japan is not great, and stuff like the hostess culture make me feel pretty uncomfortable about the sexualisation and objectification of women. I know you travel a lot with female friends in Japan, have any of them ever mentioned feeling uncomfortable or unsafe, especially on public transport or at night?

This speaks a lot about this new generation of privileged youngsters - lack of manners, sense of respect and nothing is sacred to them. My dream of visiting Japan definitely involves strolling down the oldest streets in Kyoto, so this is sad to hear. But one must do what needs to be done. Some people need to learn boundaries and limit their sense of entitlement

That's the problem with the country. Everyone lives in this fantasy world Ike they're in Disneyland 24/7 and when they hear about the reality of the real life, they're shocked, it's like the girl in the bunker in Fallout. One thing I really hate in Japan is athletic people crying, win or lose they cry like b*tches. Come on, I remember a Korean skater ridiculing a Japanese one that lost because of this. They need to toughen up a bit. There's no better way to say this but they're like children and they want to be treated as such which is quite pathetic.
