God bless Dr Cater. There was a bit of advice from another of your videos that I took and that was: It’s not about you. What ever they are about, it may affect you, but it is about how you respond to them is what you need to work out. Funnily enough I brought this up in Bible class today.

These videos are good advice, but i will continue to say on these that all videos should start with narcissism as an actual disorder to be diagnosed by a professional. Giving advice on how to "spot" one is not sound and gives individuals license to throw that label around. And why aren't there videos on how to counsel a would-be narcissist? Do these individuals not deserve it?

Dr.C, Thank you for your advice on not exchanging anger for anger. I was definitely biting the bait. My narcissistic husband is unfixable. I'd rather spend the rest of my life alone and have peace then live with this toxic man another second! Keep the videos coming. They are helping me so much!

The narcissist is a legend in their own mind. When they brag it's only because they are the only one who believes their false statements or justifications for the thefts.

Dad would enmesh about private stuff(sexual) and demand I be "totally honest", to tell him that I sexually fantasized about him(a lie), I was 12 1/2. Years later, he wanted to tell me about his sex life, I told him I didn't want to know. He never listens to my "no" and blathers on about how he is so popular with the ladies, disgusting thinking, talking, behavior. I still don't trust him. I never will! No contact with him is the only way I can protect myself. He never cared about my feelings. Only his own delusions that he's a a stud muffin(I don't want to know about his sex life, never did, I don't, and never will.) He's a jerkwad! I am 60, he's pathetic! I get help, but it still hurts! He won't take any blame, all of it has been his fault, I won't let him near me in any way. I was 26 and he was married to a cop, when I told her, she told me "it's not that bad." the bitch! I don't have a problem with cops overall, only her and her protecting him. She had no empathy for me, she backed him up when she said that to me. Sorry excuse for a woman, too! No contact for the past month and five days is a relief!

Unfortunately if it is a person you have to engage with and have shared responsibilities with it is not possible to do what you advised in the video. Dr. C can you give advice when you can't walk away and you have shared responsibilities with them that they constantly use for conflict.

But she will never show her evil side to him as long as he spends and spends on her and makes her feel special . Plus he is from a famous musical family and she can live the life she has dreamt of until he cheats on her !

Hoo boy! I remember that feeling when my n-ex tried controlling me! From how I walked, spoke, dressed all the way to whether or not I had placed the tablecloth (even drop on all sides). Nothing was off limits, then I took myself out of the equation! Know what? No one else has any problems like that with me! EVER! So glad I found my Healthy!!

am getting pressed into a event, with family i haven't seen in years (reunion) for soooo many wrong reasons..very hard to listen to, am resolved to go if someone make peace with their adult children first....my focus on healing with elderly ppl who need to make peace with them (blended families have soo many complexities) fix relationships before they get out of control...

What do you propose when you report to authorities about crimes but the authorities do not respond. And you are left questioning if the authorities ARE the narcissists?

That is the best way to deal with a narcissist, there is nothing you can control. | But from me to you at the end of the day, there is not much we actually control, and realising this is a valuable lesson to learn.

Hi Dr. C it's been awhile. I've had to deal with my father's heart attack last year and my narc mother's response to it. It has been overwhelming! It will be a year this Summer and I finally feel some peace and decided to do some self-care this year. Have really been run into the ground with my mother's demands. Trying to pick myself up and feel good about me for a change.
