You need a thermal stable room as well. With such long aluminum extrusions the thermal expansion must be noticeable in a multi day print.

I just looked up the price for filament... you guys are paying more for plastic filament than I do for steel welding wire that's certified.

don't be intimidated by gigantic instruction manuals as i used to be, because nowadays, you can expect to only have to use the 1st 5 pages with the other 95 pages repeating those 1st 5 in 20 other languages

Looks too grey. Possibly a large grain structure. Needs a stronger laser and a kiln to anneal it all together. Then you could probably drive a car over it.... probably

Нужно бы как- то отслеживать момент на шпинделе. И отключать подачу когда метчик затупится и момент превысит уставку. А то так гарантировано обломает метчик и испортит деталь

one interesting thought that came to mind: a huge printer like this could be less negatively affected by lowering the acceleration rates (depending on the print) since it's likely doing much longer runs where it can really get up to speed. So you might be able to reduce the vibration issues by turning down acceleration without necessarily a huge hit to total print time

Agree with the criticisms in the vid and those brought up here. Looks like they literally just built a 4x bigger core XY and "shipped it". Lots of room for improvement. In the current configuration, I bet you could build your own w/ some long extrusions and 4x build plates for less...

I think the several small printers option is really the better way to go due to the likelihood of a break down. With one , youve got nothing if it needs mending, with 20, youve got 19 if one breaks down.

Great video! So this is stronger than the 'common' 3d print material - makes sense. I'm sure this depends on the raw material you are using, but do these SLS parts have a higher operating temp than the 3d printed products? Say you are interested in making something to work in a hot environment... thanks!

Thank you for the video. I can see you gave the design changes a lot of thought! The one thing you didn't mention, is calibrating the real encoder travel along 1500mm. The one problem with rack and pinion is that a small error will add up and you end up with shorter or longer travel. Just wondering if you gave it some thought or not but maybe it does not matter for this application. I really enjoy the video though. Cant wait for that benchy.

For the PET bottles, wouldn't it be faster and easier to melt everything down and condense on a tray or some other container and then chop it up so it's not so thin of pieces? That would also help the moisture issue.

I'll say something in case elegoo is watching. I used the link above to go check out the printer. On the first page I closed 2 popups. One which appeared to be some marketing and one immediately asking me to sign up with them, their newsletter whatever it was. Then I clicked the 3D Printers tab above and was hit with the cookie popup and one more which I didn't pay further attention to because by then, I had lost all interest and closed the page entirely. If you want to sell a product, it would be a good idea to allow people to actually see the product before you make them lose interest in it. I do not believe that viewing a special offer, signing up to your newsletter/site/etc/ accepting permissions is what certain people are looking for immediately upon stumbling by your site. Maybe some don't mind. Do you wish to sell to some, or to all?

Great video, I didn't expect this kit to be such a box of parts! I guess I'm used to kits that have some things preassembled haha Only crituque I have is using an impact driver instead of cordless drill, good way to strip the thread off the screws or strip the head, they're overkill for just tightening screws.

Going down memory lane a bit. When bottles were glass, and some modern plastic containers, had deposits on them. Returned to a store, if your state participated, you got cash or credit. It was better than shattered glass on the roads and such. Shipping would be hell, but recycling drops in brick and mortar filament vendors could do the trick... a little. 6 kilos of old prints for 1.5 kilo spools. Dunno. Some big box stores do it with batteries. No money, but a central drop off.

The biggest disgrace of this printer, is the lack of 1.5 or bigger Nozzle. I understand Elegoo not doing it becase of hardware limitations, but if they have the time to make more proprietary nozzles... they should give us all the options available. Also, with how slow it prints, they really shouldve commited to size instead of quality.
