Kiss isn't necessarily "Good" rock music. And, that really isn't what they were about. They were all comic book nerds. And. Gene and Paul, wanted to Create Characters for a show, a story. And, that's what Kiss is, PURE ENTERTAINMENT. And, they used Music and Band as their vehicle. In the 1970's maybe early 1980's they made a movie about the "Characters" of Kiss (Kiss the Movie, I think a=was the Title)... Anyhow, they made a SHOW. They, Created Entertainment on LARGE SCALE. That was their intention and, that's what they did and, why they had a KISS ARMY of Fans. Not a Great Band. But, Great Entertainment and, a time to live inside immigration world. Like we did as kids reading our favorite comics of heroes, Star beings and villains.

I love so many of the artists of the Grunge era... but for me there no comparing to Chris Cornell. From Soundgarden, to Audioslave to my favorite of his, his solo work... He's the GOAT for me 100% - I feel like more people need to listen to his solo work. I still listen to Higher Truth often. I love it

I’ve always felt like the main guitar riff is like this incredible machine revving, In a way, it’s almost industrial, or like a siren, a call to arms, and it immediately grabs you and takes you along for the ride. An all-time great rock song.

Probably mentioned but he wrote this whole song because he was angry at the record company. They insisted on another song. He abliged. Not willingly. Its just something he threw together to fill 3 minutes.

She’s Icelandic and I think (soprano here) the pronunciation, growls and breathiness has a lot to do with her accent and culture. I would LOVE to see you analyze her song, “Birthday” by the Sugarcubes. I think you would really appreciate, “Bachelorette, Jóga and Hyperballad”. I get chills from all of those. Aurora is from Norway….so not too far from Iceland and I can see where should would be influenced by her. TY Elizabeth for finally getting to this musical genius!

You need to review her performance of Joga on Later with Jools Holland. It's fantastic.

Not sure what I would rather see next. Do we go with Nothin' to Lose which is a bit more subtle about what Kiss is about, or do we go balls to the wall with Christine Sixteen.

El rock o el metal, no se lleva solamente con movimientos, no hay parámetros musicales, es una obra de arte y punto. Así son las cosas.

All of us ladies loved and hated Ian. We loved him because he was beautiful. We hated him because he was more beautiful than we were. His hair was prettier. His lips were prettier. We all wanted that perfect Ian pink lip. He was a dancing fool when he performed. I actually tried to recreate his little heel toe heel toe dance step, and I tripped over the coffee table in the living room and did a faceplant in the middle of it. My braces cut through my lips, and I was out of commission for a few days.

Most of the time, the songs you react to are songs I've heard my entire life but this one was fun because although I've heard of Bjork I'm not familiar with her songs at ALL so I got to react to this one right along with you as a first-time listener!

Ok. So I’ve been a fan of Kansas’ music since before there was the internet. I legit had no idea what this guy looked like. I expected the stereotypical late 70’s/early 80’s look: Long, permed hair, full and probably long beard and either rail thin or with a good beer gut. But no. I’m straight, but damn.

Not to get all egghead about but to be more specific yes there are 2 tonal centers, she's singing a melody a fourth up from the tympani-based bassline. There is what I would call not a key change but a chord change in the middle of the verse just a half step up on both the instruments and voice, but as she keeps singing in the same key, when the instrumental part returns/resolves back down to the original key, she ending up on that fourth, goes down from there a half-step, resolving the "dilemma" to a major third in relation to that note. Then the chorus has a part where instruments and voices (harmony) are resolved to the same key, as it sounds also like the ideas posited lyrically about human beings making no sense, during the verse just shared observations, in that moment of voice and instruments coming together, are felt to be true. Also the nasty guitar part at the end sounds to me like the embodiment of the human imperfection side of things, reminding me both of Einar Orn's interjections in her old band the Sugarcubes, and of the song Sadeness by Enigma, where it sounds like the woman singing is out of breath from running away from a creepy man, who now sings the same melody the a similar nasty guitar (synth) in background.
