Add some 20 W/mk thermal pads and some solid thermal paste (KingPin KPX, Thermal Grizzly - Kryonaut Extreme) or Liquid Metal (Thermal Grizzly - Conductonaut, Silver King) and you can probably take things a little further. It'd be funny to do LN2 (liquid nitrogen, aka Extreme Overclocking) or water cooling!😆

i would love to see a deep dive into the box84/wine/dxvk option with modern hardware like SD 8gen1/2/3... sins those last SOC switch emulation become a bit too easy unless u push high resolution and even that is qinda dead now. so actual old/oldish PC games can be super interesting, maybe even more than switch emulation...

This is basically the reasoming i used to debunk the Oled was the Switch pro theory. You know that pansemic shortages was what prevented the release of a Pro switch. Basically i told the people holding this theory that Mariko clocked at its default speed with a wider memory bus would !ake a signifr difference even if nintendo couldnt manufacture new socs for the pro.

I'm not sure I like the OOT upscale. It's like putting on the glasses to see how ugly your ex really was lol I think the draw distance and kinda fuzzy textures honeslty helps the look and feel of the game. Upscalling and updating textures defenitely would be better though

I was staying somewhere the other day regarding emulation that Nintendo should just release their own with eShop on it, and potentially release a USB cart reader for emulating games you own. If they did, such a reader would be great for dumping one's carts for use with the MIG. Either way, it would mean Nintendo's making money on it

The only thing that kinda makes me resent the psp is how much trouble the battery has given me over the years. The vita completely dissolved all those issues, but the umd is just something really quite special for me, it's probably the most unique media format ever made. And I love my physical collection.

I really hope this gets millions of views. Nintendo needs to get with it

Just FYI I've ran the switch in 4k YEARS AGO. To be truthful, I had to do it in Linux on a v1 switch with a dock which means I was playing PC games and (mostly) emulators. It was pretty good at steam link streaming in 4k.

Maybe someone can figure out a complex video output mod to make it work natively on the Lite, but it seems nobody has tried that. I'm not an expert on the architecture, and I expect it'd be a pretty complicated mod along the lines of installing a modchip in an OLED Switch, but I'd be keen either way.

Still holding out for that OLED screen and video output for the Lite. Would love an update on that, if it's still happening. I got given a Switch Lite and it's a much nicer form factor than the other Switch models to me, but the lack of video out is awful, and it's second-hand so the screen isn't in the best shape (if there's an OLED screen coming, it's not worth getting one of the inferior-to-stock LCD replacements).

I was considering this little enclosure but after i saw that write speeds were capped out at 1gbps I decided to go with a different option. I needed a case because i plan on transferring data from another external M.2 drive, just a little over 1TB of data. Considering both M.2 drives are pcie gen 4.0 with a read speed around 5,000 mbps and write of 3,000 mbps this enclosure would kind of cripple it's performance. It will be interesting though to see how fast the total file transfer takes since yesterday I backed up about 3TB of data from an SSD to an external HDD and it took almost 10hrs to transfer everything.

Well, it may seem like it could do 4K, but it'd put a lot more stress on the hardware and probably kill it after awhile. I think CPU's are clocked at what they're clocked at for a reason. There have always been those who like to experiment with overclocking to get more out of a CPU, but I think it's a very bad idea to do that unless you're super knowledgeable about whatever CPU you're overclocking.

This is such a cool experiment, glad you did it. I agree though, Nintendo should not cap the performance of their next console as hard. They could put some energy settings on a deep-ish menu, so people who actually want to experiment with overclocking can do it, but it's not trivial for those who would get their switch on fire
