Hi Steve, I have the exact same fault, I'm certainly not going to pay the £400 that ford now want for the part. I'm going to dismantle mine at the weekend and have a look (Ford S-Max 2014) hopefully I can identify a problem at the plug. Do you know if its possible to replace the camera with an aftermarket camera and get it to work with the OEM park assist system?

Hi, thank you very much for the amazing review! It agrees with my experience with a Pinecil v2 on large copper regions (which is not great). I was blaming my soldering skills. I have a question though. Do you know if Hakko T12/T15 cartridges do better? I mean both original ones and clone ones (you can put one into a pinecil or use a separate station). I also have a clone T12 station, and clone T12-K tip feels much better than a Pinecil one.

@@sdgelectronics here's another puzzler: the station is labeled with input: 9v - 15v. But the charger is labeled as only providing up to 3A at 15V (... or 4.8A at 20V to give the 96W rating). This is typical; pretty much all high-power usb-c chargers I've seen only provide more than 3A at 20V or greater. (The reason being that devices should prefer lower current and higher voltage, up to a point.) So how could it be getting 80W, at 15V? Maybe the supplied adapter will actually allow ~ 5A at 15V? (And some other high-power usb-c adapters will too?) Probably more strict/proper usb-c supplies will have issues with it.
@sdgelectronics

@@ploxiln yeah that's a good point, it must be temporarily overloading that supply, though I think generally it's not designed to be run without the battery installed

Oh why oh why the F did they not support the T245 hand piece. Goes to show that no soldering station can seemingly be designed without at least one stupid avoidable design decision. No support for brass cleaner in the station. Battery powered devices like this should use external systems so users can opt for different sizes and quantities based on their needs. No sleep mode, no IEC mains supply. Seems very targeted to those playing with drone, UAVs,

@JonnyFix

Because of the low cost of this and other similar units that don't have the reduced temp standby mode could it be that the materials used to construct the case and holder aren't suitable to be around high temps for extended periods? Turning the iron off is preferred over higher cost of materials when competing in the market.

I'm glad that AiXun is trying to build a brand, even if it's based on cloned JBC technology, but they could definitely improve the firmware. The arrow buttons here are likely a manufacturing error as the item photos show them pointing in opposite directions. This aspect needs QC attention. The pricing is weird as they want an extra 43USD for 2 extra tips. The marketing is also awful as the AE photos show that this station has "5G technology" for firmware updates and a "neural network control algorithm" for rapid heating. It's hard to stomach that level of stupidity and borders on fraud, even if it's actually just incompetently exuberant Chinese marketing. It also lists both WiFi and Bluetooth, but 1. there's no Bluetooth functions listed or needed, and 2. I have zero desire for my soldering station to be an IoT device connected to China ;). Over-the-air firmware updates are acceptable, I guess, but my experience suggests that these companies never improve their existing products, but instead invest all their effort into upcoming models. Existing customers seem meaningless to them except as potential buyers for their next model.

The included USB power supply is a ripoff of an Apple MacBook power supply, right down to the mechanical details. @tookitogo 10 днів тому
6:07 That charger is a knock-off Apple charger. Apple has used the same system of snap-on plugs and cords since introducing it in 2001. The plugs (which are officially called “duckheads”, no joke) and cords used to not be available separately, but are now orderable accessories. (Apple also sells the complete set of all duckheads as the World Travel Adapter Kit.) But you can also just slide a regular figure-8 (C8) power lead into it. It looks janky but is perfectly safe and reliable. In the real Apple chargers, the metal stud is the earth connection, used only on cords, not duck heads. (Smaller charger models use a plastic stud.) I wouldn’t count on the knockoff’s stud being connected to anything.

So they have the tech (in other stations) to detect the 3 types of cartridges but only support 2 and it's a special connector that isn't compatible with other Aixun Handles... Only a 2 cell LiPo so I'm guessing they are boosting the voltage (Power looses) to get the proper power in the cartridge too (all JBC tips being designed for 24v if i'm not mistaken) All of this is really weird and disappointing. I have a 420D station and it's lovely. Modified it quite a bit to fit my needs but the base station is solid so why not use the 420D controller with one less port and made for DC it doesn't make sense to me. (Of course it's more complicated than that but they already have a solid base to start with that's what I meant) Guess I'll have to modify one of these cheaper stations that take all 3 types to use a 6S Li Po and call it a day. Most of them use a switching PSU anyway so it's already DC

210 and 115 run on 12V, guess the 2 pack 18650 battery was boosted up to meet that. 245 runs on 24v which is too much and not supported. As a matter of fact you can run 245 with 12v, it only draws around 30w hence very slow.

It works perfectly, I’ve used Apple chargers that way many, many times. The only exceptions are the comparatively rare polarized C8 plugs (where one side of the figure-8 is rectangular), and with some C8 plugs whose grip area is too thick because they added really fat grip ridges.
