Hey Jesse, thank you for the very useful reassembly. i used it on my c60 transmission and i it works 💪but it leaks on the driver side from the new seal i put in. so i just watched you're vid again and notice that you mention it needs to go in with a certain depth, but i have a hard time finding that measurement. can you remember how deep it most go in ? its around 19:00 you working on that same seal :)

Hi, fainally I swaped MR2 1zz,to 2zz from Corolla 2001. But @Jesse Spec I need your help, in MR2 dashbord don't work: charging batery (lamp shines), Hand Brake lamp shines,and some times ABS blinking 2 or 3 times from 10 times starting the engine, and water heating gauge doesn't work. Were need too check, and what need to see? all engine and ecu from corolla. Runs good, lifts from 6.5rpm works, runs untill 8.2rpm. Thanks for help!

Had a stock MR2 in the past; the 1zz was enough on the twisty roads were I live even if it did like revving (unlike the 2zz). Really miss that car; but yeah no place for the children 😅.

Not a fair assessment as the engines dont have the same displacement. Average out the hp per litre on both engines. And its still unfair comparing a 1.8L to 2.0L

The 2zz makes 100hp per litre thats all you need to know

technically VTEC doesnot have lift, it runs only on 8 valves and after 4,5-5rpm other 8 valves add, Toyota VVTL has variable lift of valves

Question i have not neen able to get an answer to; im tirn between 9.5 and 9" wide, i love the looks of 9.5", have seen it in person, but i like the weight of the 9 with 245 tires. Assuming same offset, between the 9 and 9.5, do the just maje the hub thicker to maintain offset on the wider wheel, or are the spokes sucked in further and there is a larger lip on the 9.5? If you could answer this that all i need to know to pull trigger on a set finally. Cheers, tranny appreciate your detailed walkthru!

2ZZ has an interesting niche, at least here in Poland where I live. In a lot of amature racing leagues there are different classifications based upon stuff like engine displacement and stuff. 2ZZ and K20 would fall under the same class, but most of them make an exception for K series and classify it like a much larger displacement engine or one with forced induction, bc even NA they can make a LOT more power than pretty much any other engine, so those classes under 2.0 liters of displacement would be all just K series races and competition of "who can throw more money to squeeze a few more horsepower from their K20" and that's not fun and would quickly kill interest in the league. So for a lot of motorsport leagues it makes sense to tune up a 2ZZ since it has a lot of the same characteristics that make K20 so good but it isn't targeted by rules. Plus in the case of MR2 specifically it's basically the easies swap in the world and is barely any more difficult than putting in stock engine.

The advantage of the 2ZZ is that is easy to swap, relatively cheap, and relatively light weight, but the K series are superior engines in every other way.

TO BE FAIR. The ep3 k20a3 or whatever is literally the WEAKEST kseries engines there is. The RSX/dc5 Integra k20a2 or k20z1 or whatever makes ASTRONOMICALLY more power stock for stock. So that's not a fair comparison
