Do you have a link to recommended roof shades for M3? Tesla ones seem expensive, but too many Amazon/Ebay to choose from!
@sparkes9999 годин тому
Had my MG X power for about 2 months now. With the LKA you can turn it off, yes annoying each time you start the car but still its a small issue. The range is not as bad on mine, stick the car in ECO and energy saving mode and it can be very economical around 4.0KW per mile i was getting was no struggle. Stereo is absolutely fine just use media from your phone and the sound quality is just fine. Tyres are not great but i have never been found wanting for grip and i drive it pretty hard some days, NOTE that 4wd is only active in sport mode! Steering feel is definitely vague and is not very sharp....but for me for whole point of this car is like a fun electric muscle type car. Trust me when i say this....this is a fun car in its own right.....I have owned 996 GT3, 997.1 GT3, Cayman 981 GTS, 1M, 997 Carrera S, E34 M5 just to name a few cars that i have owned over the years! Yes its a flawed car but i think of it as characterful. Dont have any issues with vibration also, there is a very slight hum at motorway speeds but it certaintly doesnt kill the enjoyment. As for the running costs.....just make sure you have an EV tariff. I have night rate with E.on at 7p per kw and this is a crazy cheap car to run. Its got 430bhp and is very useable so take its flaws for what it is and enjoy the thing! I traded my A35 Amg for this car and i am a petrolhead through and through, but i can honestly say that am not missing the A35 at all and for some reason am much more enjoying this car!

Lane assist has to come back on each trip because its part of their NCAP rating, if it was able to be turned off all the time it wouldnt meet the criteria for 5*. And tbh families take too much stuff these days,

Looking at getting one of these ZE50 GT models with CCS soon - what do I need to check when looking at a used one and how near to the 5-year warranty running out should I get Cleevely to look over it? - I need to buy private as max budget £9k sadly - can't justify spending more on my 4k miles per year.

good morning I would like to know the brand and model of the leaf 40kw battery modules and, if possible, a datasheet for the batteries. I would also like the video to be complete with removing the glue and balancing the batteries as it is done
@wozza400День тому
That was clear as could be thank you

Very informative video. Could you detail the upgrades that you have carried out. I watched a previous video and it was just the frunk softclose. Would really like to see all the mods as I saw the rear screen installed and spoiler additional.

Looking forward to the S/X one. Great explanations and examples in details!

Great video, thanks. Basically, you're saying avoid the US built cars because of poor build quality but the Chinese ones are fine.

Great video! I have an model 3 2021, and I recently got a notification that says that my parking sensor might be blocked. I have cleaned it, and all of the sensors look okay. But it wont go away. Is this common for tesla? To have problems with the sensors? And do you know what I can do to fix it?

Just watched this video again, and am now going to change the zoe for the long range trophy ZS. As always good informative videos

@16:50 how do you know to ask Tesla to look at this under warranty?
@UK78682 дні тому
Informative as always. Which companies would you recommend to use for EV servicing? Thank you
@johnlabernik45992 дні тому
I went in for front upper control arm replacement on my 2018 Fremont model 3 rwd and I asked about alignment due to uneven tire wear on the inside of both rear wheels. A tech told me this is intentional to provide lateral stability. Thoughts?

Great review Kate, just bought a 2023 updated long range based on the MG5 james has.

Hi James, thanks for this excellent video, as a 58YO DIY mechanic, this is just the sort of information I value. Much as I love what Tesla has done in pushing the EV revolution, my conclusion was to give serious consideration to an MG5. For now I am still very happy with my 2019 BMW i3.
@judebrown41033 дні тому
Excellent video James, I'm unlikely to ever have a Tesla but its such fun to have a look at the nuts and bolts. Much more familiar territory than the big screen inside! We had our Ioniq 38 serviced by Cleevely's for the first time only yesterday, such great service from Lee, many thanks. 👍👏
@Jamesandkate3 дні тому
Hi Jude. Thanks for the feedback and I'm pleased you were happy with the service. The Ioniq 38 is awesome, good choice.

I can't believe that there are so many basic common faults. Who the hell designed and specked them? And more importantly how come there are so many people who are such fanboys for these piles of what seem like junk?
@Jamesandkate3 дні тому
I've worked in the trade for years, this is the same for all manufacturers. It's worth remembering that Tesla is a new manufacturer compared to many.
@ntcoleman15293 дні тому
Thank you, James. Very informative video. Forgive me if this was already revealed - what model year is your Tesla Model Y? My understanding is that that Tesla updated the Y suspension beginning in model year 2023 - at least for the US market. I’m wondering if they addressed those suspension issues you mentioned? Thank you.
@Jamesandkate3 дні тому
Hi. Ours is a 22MY. They have softened the suspension on later models but i'm unaware as to whether the bush has been upgraded.
@Jaw0lf3 дні тому
Great information and certainly very useful for those picking up an older Tesla.
@alastairkeith85533 дні тому
Great to see the common Tesla issues. It appears that Tesla have been proactive in modifying designs as issues become apparent and updating the parts on later cars. Are they reasonable with accepting warranty claims?
@Jamesandkate3 дні тому
Yes, they're really good and cover all the problems without question in most cases.
@sazltd53643 дні тому
I have got the exact same problem in my Zoe, likely to be the compressor. Can you please advise where are you based and if it is possible to arrange repairs for my heater and a/c not working?

@egold33311 48 seconds ago (edited) Good video, I think its less where it was built and more about the company behind how its built and their experience/management! How much do you charge for your pre warranty expiry services for a model 3 on average?

Fascinating honest briefing from a Tesla expert. A friend experienced steering vibration on a 6 month Model Y. Tesla finally diagnosed a buckled ns wheel. The list of potential faults seems very long. I know you said the MG was less prone to similar problems, but how does Tesla compare to the likes of VW and the Korean EV brands?
@Jamesandkate4 дні тому
TBH, all manufacturers suffer. What we've shown you here is common across the trade and all marques.
@paulaschofield5 днів тому
Great video James. We're in NZ and have a late 2023 Model Y RWD. The only issues we've had so far after 14,000km is the righthand side drivers seat bolster wear and rinkling which actually started around 3,000km so I am a bit worried about the longevity and quality of the seats. Other than that, haven't noticed anything else.
@Jamesandkate4 дні тому
That's a rare one. The seats are pretty robust in our experience.

Just had to buy new wipper blades on my MG5 SR. 134350 miles in 3 years 5 months. Chinese quality .. lol, all good, still even being thrashed as a taxi.

James the M3P brakes you mention is there a replacement pin you can buy that doesnt seize in the caliper or is it just a case if changing the pins for new before they do? Thanks
@pollywollydo5 днів тому
There a hypodermic needle available ( E Bay) which screws onto a grease gun which lets you inject the top ball joint
@Jamesandkate4 дні тому
The issue is, once you pierce the boot it allows water in and traps it. We pull the boot off when greasing these so it stays weather proof.
@pollywollydo4 дні тому
@@Jamesandkate yes but OK for a quick fix. A shallow angle of attack will minimise the hole as it can 90% reseal and is full of grease anyway, not flung out like a CV joint 🙂
@K12beano5 днів тому
Fantastic information - as a M3 owner that’s destined to be doing a fair, above average mileage you are due to be my first port of call for proper maintenance management over the long term….. (9 months and only 22,000 so far 🧐)….👍🏻
@Jamesandkate4 дні тому
That's good mileage. The good news is, these cars will fly past 200k easily
@jamesb44985 днів тому
Brilliant video, thank you. I don’t suppose you’ve seen any model 3s with corrosion on the inside of the boot lid where it meets the seal at the bottom of the glass have you?
@Jamesandkate4 дні тому
I haven't seen that at all tbh. Have you got it?
@IslaSprollie5 днів тому
Brilliant video. I get the impression that the Y is the most trouble free.
@Jamesandkate4 дні тому
Certainly is. They're actually very good, despite this video making it look the opposite.
@jamesdean27065 днів тому
That was fabulous and informative, and i may end up watching it again as my M3 is over 2 years, no service light yet, but before it gets to 3 years, how far prior to the 3 year inspection do you recommend getting it checked?
@Jamesandkate4 дні тому
A few months as the car needs to be in a Tesla before the expiration date.
@decimal18155 днів тому
You could put content like this behind a patreon paywall and we would pay for it when we're on the lookout for a new EV. Just sayin.. :)

Thanks James. Would be very interested in similar videos on others makes & models eg ID4/Skoda Enyaq. How do MG ZS EV compare to MG5s for reliability and dependability?
@decimal18155 днів тому
This is great. You could do a whole series of these for the most popular used EVs on the market.. particularly when you mention the approx cost of common faults. Really useful thanks!

I'll get a Model S for the next video perhaps.
