How to get a Starship to lay down on it's side on the moon? Just move a 15 ton rover out of the upper hatch and over it goes.

I would surmise that NASA understands there is a high probability that SpaceX will not be in business in a few years. The entire company is bound to the success of Starship. SpaceX has missed every benchmark and are currently running out of money based on their own forecasts.

Why not use the steer grid fins to catch SS? Have them float horizontal except when needed in flight. Would make a more reliable catch. Easily engineered not to suffer damage and save weight without the other lift points?.

The Soros, Clinton, Obama Oligarchy would rather kill astronauts than use the time tested spacecraft being built by their political enemy. This is all because Musk is critical of the government and supports free-speech. Boeing is more focused on DEI hiring than QC.

I don't believe SpaceX will be in business two years from now, time is against them. They have missed every Starship benchmark to date. The company cannot survive without Starship's future income. Falcon 9 and the merlin engine program is really as good as it gets but it will not cashflow the company.

I spent about ten years working for Boeing Aerospace on a DOD engineering contract. At first, I felt like everyone around me was definitely hired based on proficiency and qualifications but, at some point, it was clear that gender and ethnicity began to take precedent. That contract began a downward spiral into babysitting incompetent quota hires who couldn't use a computer until the Army had seen enough. Boeing has succumbed finally and completely to "wokeness".

What is the theoretical limit on the energy imported in this way? that is a serious question because I do not see one beyond our ability to launch satellites. We could easily duplicate the energy we get from the sun, for instance. These things must be aimed with a high degree of precision to hit the receiver areas. Their controllers can designate a new receiver area at any time to provide for expanding the grid. They are already talking about restricting the power of the microwave transmitters which implies transmitter surplus, possibly redundancy, is being designed into the system, probably as a reliability matter. These things can be converted to weapons by enabling higher power and/or targeting many transmitters to use a falsely designated receiver at ant spot on the globe. How would your city do with the entire energy sent to your continent diverted to city hall, for example? In the best of circumstances, because we will have placed the entire planet into a microwave oven, global warming will be real, no matter your opinion of the current situation.

Since they are planning in the future to catch a landing booster or starship in flight. It's a much more difficult maneuver than a simple static pickup and stack or unstack. So they are testing out the maximum limits and capabilities of the current chopsticks.
@derlar777
@derlar777 День тому
I still believe it would be best to have a second tower just for catching the booster and ship until it is fully developed . So right now you have damage at take off and could take a tower offline and if catching it may cause damage also and then the tower will be down longer before next flight can happen. Makes sense to me.

You might be able to stop the oscillation and the vibration of the chopsticks with a separate dampening cylinder or multiple cylinders. I wouldn't worry to much about the speed of closer of the chopsticks. You have to close at the speed needed to catch the unit. I like the idea of the horizontal tank farm. Great Episode.

What this video fails to state is that as some things are being added to the ship for reliability and safety, they have also lightened the ship by making advances in other areas like reducing the overall weight of each engine The SpaceX Raptor 3.0 was test fired and reached 18% more thrust than a Raptor 2 (269 vs 230 Tonnes of Thrust). The Raptor 2 had 25% more thrust than the Raptor 1 and it was 20% lighter. Raptor 3.0 is even better with a Version 4.0 already on the drawing boards. I don't see a problem here....

The challenge is getting the "generated" power to Earth's surface without frying everything in its path. Still have issues with maintenance, too, since all kinds of nasty things in space destroy whatever they touch.
@djohannsson8268
@djohannsson8268 День тому
Although the eventual cost may be cheaper than conventional generation methods, that cost savings will "not" be shared with the consumer. The savings will be considered to offset the cost of maintaining the green power collecting systems in space and the central receivers on the ground. So our electricity bills will continue to climb, but it will now be green energy were paying for. So there will still be a consumer incentive to reduce his local dependent on the grid.
