i have the 14 inch version and is a joy to use, impressive built quality, great keyboard, plenty of ports and v nice display, bought refurbished for 300 bucks, impressive

So I just traded in my Tesla 2018 model 3 for a 2024 model S, and it does take some getting used to and I agree with you about the way they placed the turn signal indicators with both being on the left, and it would’ve been much better if they had placed the left turn signal on the left side and the right turn signal on the right side of the steering wheel, and I’d rather have the Windshield wiper button on the left side, and so I didn’t think that made much sense either, because how often are you going to need to clear your windshield, and so having the light dimmer button on the right hand side would make more sense to me, as I am more likely to use that a lot more than I will use the windshield washer button to clear the windshield. So the issue you mentioned with the window seals should have been taken care of at the service center, because those kind of things are under warranty, and do you wanna make sure you get all of those things taken care of, because you don’t wanna pay out-of-pocket for things that could’ve been fixed under warranty. So I found that the road noise, and the ride comfort is much better with the air suspension in the model S and my understanding is that the new refreshed model 3 is a lot better than it was in previous models as well, but without the noise of a running engine you’re going to have some road noise, but I normally drive with some music playing so I don’t really pay too much attention to that anymore, and I also read somewhere that the model S did have some of that noise canceling technology functioning in the car, now that may just be for this new model year 2024, so not sure about earlier models, but I’m told that they are using some of that to dampen some of the noise that you normally hear because you don’t have a running engine in an electric car. So someone mentioned in the comments, and they are correct, that the center armrest does come down. You have to press the button at the base of the back of the headrest, and you have to really get back there, and look to see where that’s located, because it’s not a physical button, it’s a type of in printed button if that makes any sense to you, but once you see it, you can feel and press the button and it will release the center armrest and you can just pull it down into place and there are 2 cupholders located there, and 2 wireless phone chargers back there as well. So I also agree with you, that it makes no sense to get the plaid model, and they were trying to get me to upgrade to the plaid, but there was no way I was going to do that because number one, I am not trying to kill myself, number two there’s no place in the world I know where you can drive legally over 80 miles an hour, and the only reason to launch a car from 0 to 60 in under three seconds is to impress your friends, and I don’t have any friends that I need to impress by doing something that stupid. The other thing is instead of taking your eyes off the road to operate controls, try using Voice commands, that will eliminate any need to put yourself in an unsafe situation by taking your eyes off the road to adjust something from the center display screen, and so I never had a problem that caused me to be distracted when using the center display screen in the model 3, and now I’m having to make the adjustment, because some of the driving information that was on the center display screen in the model 3 is now positioned in front of you on the separate screen in the model S, and so I’m having to get used to having things that used to be on that screen like you’re driving information now located directly in front of you, and so I don’t play around with anything while I am driving anyway. So I am starting to get used to establishing my muscle memory for where the turn indicator signals are located without having to look at down, but I must admit that it is surprisingly taking me a lot more time than I thought it would, but I don’t drive manually much, because I always drive using FSD, and I am currently driving on V12.3.6, and its absolutely awesome, as I am driving with hardware 4 with Tesla vision only, and its driving and behaving much more like a human driver does, and its truly amazing to experience how far Tesla as come, and I would not be surprised, that by this time next year, Tesla will have cracked the full self driving/autonomous driving conundrum, and when that happens, it truly will be a game changer/paradigm shift, because this isn’t just about having some convenience item or some G whiz technology to impress our friends. This is about saving lives, and what Tesla needs now more than anything is hard numbers that shows that not only are their cars safer should you be unfortunate enough to get into a crash with another vehicle or some object along the highway, but that the car drives better than a human and the incidents of crashing result in a fatality would be lowered to an astonishing level, and I think that would be convincing and I just heard Warren Buffett say that if FSD prove to be what most of us believe it be safer than a human driver and the numbers starts to drop significantly in terms of car crashes, damage to property as well as a reduced loss of life, that’s it’s going to kill these insurance companies, and that brings a lot of joy to me, because these insurance companies are killing us with their high premiums, which is not only outrageous, it’s also a rip off/price gouging too. Thank God that we in the states did not adopt or follow the Brits into driving on the wrong side of the highway. I have been in country several times and it’s always scared the living hell out of me, traveling on the opposite side of the highway as I never really drove there, as I was always chauffeured around, because as a member of the military, they had a rule that you could not drive until you had been in country for at least 30 days, and I was never there that long, so it never became an issue for me. So the good news may be that once the ruling party decide to allow Tesla to bring FSD/full self driving/autonomous driving to the country, you won’t have to worry about what side the steering wheel is on, because the AI will take care of all that for you, and so it may be what they were thinking when they realized that why change the position of the steering wheel just to suit one or two countries , as the AI can solve that problem without doing any physical movement of controls for the car, because you’re not gonna be driving future Tesla cars/vehicles anyway, and that the cars were no longer feature steering wheels or pedals in order for human drivers to be able to drive the cars because all of the cars will be autonomous. Its too expensive. Its not worth a £30-40k premium over a GTS ICE model. If it was a similar price it would sell like hotcakes, but at that price I’m not so sure. And before anyone starts comparing the list price ( only about £17k different) by the time you have added a few options its massively different, and don’t forget the rear windscreen wiper is a £350 option; the “sport sound” is a £300 option; the HUD is a £1700 option; decent wheels are a £3500 option etc.

Hey Toni… nice review 👌. I noticed you did a review of the two cars I have considered to move to an electric car, which are the Zeekr 001 and the iX2 top models. I am a bit concerned in buying the 001 (which I like the most) since it is a “new” brand and overall consideration/value if a later time need sell it, but it is hard for European brands to compete on price point, autonomy of batteries and technology. Any recommendation based on driving experience and knowledge on both cars?? I will truly appreciate your advice to help me take a decision in a few weeks.
