Saw China Crisis last night at The PictureDome in Holmfirth .. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We only saw them a few weeks ago in Sheffield, they are one the best bands ever , their music is sublime Cannot wait to see them again , they surely are one the most hardworking bands , still going after 40 years .. and putting on the best gigs 🫶

How dumb was I as a teen? When VOTB were a new band on the scene I confused them with the B52 because "oh, they wear beehive hairdos in the B52!" even though Cindy and Kate had stopped using that gimmick by the late 80s! And then I swore that "Don't Call Me Baby" was a Bangles song! Ugh! Live and learn! Bless the Hive Sisters!

Their comments during the interview are interesting! I sort of pegged VOTB within the range between The Bangles and The B-52. I feel like their guitar sound was imitated by The Spin Doctors and The Gin Blossoms during the next iteration of power pop. There's something like a "response" element to Gin Blossom's lyrics that leaves me with the impression that the Beehive was the girlfriend and the Blossoms was the boyfriend somehow! It sort of makes senses...
