It didn’t work for me trying to get up oil spills from a grill under a covered patio. I had to hose off rather than let rain do it. The Dawn left worse stains than the oil.

Is this just normal dish wash soap? And would you attempt this on kitchen concrete counter tops?
@puntagordy10 місяців тому
I don't want to use Dawn because it goes down the rain run off drain and into the pond in our gated community. Using Simple Green, stiff bristle brush and boiling water. Nothing really works that well. F*cking garbage truck is pissing out hydraulic fluid at my curb. I live in a nice HOA and it looks like sh*t.

I use Dawn all the time, for everything. It didn't work for the old stains on my driveway. Even used a power washer after. Still nothing.

@amypolzella834911 місяців тому
Dawn dish soap. Liquid Dawn for hand washing.
@FroobTubeLIVE11 місяців тому
@@amypolzella8349 As a preface, I did let the stains sit for a few days. That said, In a rush, I grabbed Dawn dish soap, and coated the area completely as suggested. Not only are the stains still very much noticeably there, but the sheer amount of suds was utterly ridiculous to wash away (all after letting sit for somewhere between 3-6 hours, I can't recall at this point.) Absolutely DO NOT recommend dish soap of any kind for these kinds of situations, especially for older stains. As they are far too sudsy and not effective, in my experience.

Why Dawn? Do other brands not work?
@leechburglights10 місяців тому
Dawn by far is the best at loosening up grease and oil. I worked in restaurants and we used Dawn to clean the greasy old fryers. For the price you pay, it's 1/4 the expense of an industrial cleaner with harmful fumes and burns your skin. You can try other's if you want, but nothing has ever worked for me like Dawn.

Worked great for me even on an old stain. The stain did kind of burn back up once the weather approached 100F, so more than 1 treatment may be needed.

I’ve been using Dawn on my drive way when spill oil after an oil change for many years. But I don’t use but a teaspoon and smear it around with an old broom. Wash it off the next day and 99% gone.

The IDIOT landscapers came around today and blew everything off my porch. Which included a glass citronella and cedar thing. It smashed and left a huge spill on my porch. It’s a condo association so I have no contact with these jerks. Anyway, will baking soda pull it up?

Do you think this would work on asphalt on the street? A contractor/handyman leaked tons of oil on the street outside my house. Neighbors and HOA are making my life m miserable over this. Although I do not think it will take it off completely, maybe it would at least make it less unsightly. Thank you.
@BumpyJohnson9219Рік тому
I would have that contractor come right back out and clean it up, otherwise I would pay for it to be cleaned and they would pay by me billing them or by the court system. No way I would allow that.
@prefersoxygen9373Рік тому
If your HOA contract does not mention public roadway damage not directly caused by you then you are not responsible... however, the contractor could be held responsible for cleanup by whomever owns the roadway.. if you life on private roadway, and your contract says that you are responsible, then try the soap, a pressure washer with the disc shaped surface cleaner attachment, do not use any acidic chemicals on asphalt/blacktop/macadam...
@tonianncalbo451Рік тому
The contractor tried to clean it with kitty litter, rubbing it in with a brush & hosing off. Did nothing ☹️ Someone else suggest clay kitty litter & rub it in with your feet, sneakers on🤪 It helped a little, but not gone. But thanx everyone 😃

@frankfago29502 роки тому
Paul, I have had great success even on old oil spots.. The hardest part (at least to me) is not to wash it off right away. Let it sit as is for days and let the rain take care of it. You will be amazed!
