So my wife works at a computer center about 25 miles outside of our town. We live in South dakota, so snow is always a concern during the winter time, and will sometimes shut down the road so she can't get there. She's only required to be at work two days a week. Aside from the snow events, but not having a hundred-dollar gas pump bill every week is a definite plus. I can definitely say that not having to go to work physically and being able to do your job from home will definitely help with people who can't pay for gas to get to work.

If they are a true close friend, this discussion doesn't even need to happen. If anything, it could lead into an unnecessary conflict that started out with good intentions.

This is very good, but there is still the issue of underperforming team members. Team members performing at their best level sometimes translates as underperforming team members. What do you do after all measures are unsuccesfully taken to bring the team member to the next level? They are performing at their best according to their level, but.......the infinite game can only be achieved if a company is properly funded and if it is not, no amount of good intentions will save you from becoming finite very soon. I love Simon's stuff, but there has to be a balance in your business model, and Simon tends to lean one direction often.

When ppl do things right, i have them do more of *that thing. Have them do less of the thing they're not good at, and more of the thing they *are good at. It more about resource allocation on the leader/managers part than it is verbal positive reinforcement.

Hmm.. I never bring out my phone when I am with someone. But well I cannot expect this from people my generation. I myself feel diminished, but guess what, I am way more than them, so I don't make a fuss anyways.

Honestly the splitting hairs was the BEST part. I struggle with this all the time: should I strive to contribute? Is that striving self serving or even arrogant? How do I know I'll know before having done damage? Is it enough to "just" be a good parent, good husband, good family member? I loved the debate because it gave me honest perspective. Thank you for splitting hair!

So cool to see this. I can't remember how I found out about the PUA community and Neil's book, 'The Game', but I was one of those that bought it hoping to help me get a girlfriend. It's so funny to hear Neil describe the start and end of the book and saying it's about male insecurity. Because I did read it but mainly focused on the middle sections where I could get tips. Neil did release a companion book, 'Rules of the Game' which was more of the self-help book. This was 2007 and I was 20. I then went on learning about other 'gurus'. There was quite a bit of content on UKposts you could find for this stuff. I thought I wanted to be like a pickup artist. But in the end I wasn't comfortable with that. Going through the phase did teach me to communicate with people. I'm 37 now. Married for 4 years with someone I love, have a 2 year old son, and a daughter on the way. Thank you, Neil. Without you and your book, I wouldn't have gone on this journey and be where I am today - happy

I think the point is that in the larger scheme is that if everyone does something with a positive intention to contribute VS people just do whatever. The end result will be that the world and all its people as a whole are better off when everyone acts with the right intention. I do think Neil’s view on this is quite cynical.

Depends on who you are dealing with, if you’re dealing with someone who is manipulative, they’ll see your discomfort and walk all over you. Have to be straight forward, but fair.

Then there’s us Gen X’ers. We grew up without computers, Internet, cell phones, streaming, and social media. We listened to records on turntables, we typed out our papers on typewriters, we called people from a phone connected to the wall via a cord that we’d twirl around our fingers. We spent our childhoods outdoors, riding bikes, going on adventures, building forts, going to the theater to see the latest gory slasher film or rom com. We listened to the radio on our boomboxes all day in hopes to hear the perfect song for the mixtape we were planning to give to our crush. We enjoyed life because all we had was each other and that was alright with us.

Neil's journey from pickup artist to advocate for genuine connection is truly inspiring! 🌟 His message about giving validation to others and prioritizing authenticity in relationships is invaluable advice for building meaningful connections in both personal and professional life.

It's just old people saying gen z sucks. Don't listen to them. These are the same people who literally BEAT the crap out of their kids. These are the same people who insisted rock, heavy metal and rap was "devil worshiping music". They told you video games would make you violent because you're a kid and too stupid to understand a game versus real life. They worship jocks, their glory days was high school, and for the past 40 years they've been waiting to die because literally the last time they looked forward to anything was before you were born.

I became a manager at age 21, and made a ton of mistakes for a few years, then realized this mindset. Once I started holding everyone to high standards, and praising their achievements while also helping to correct mistakes, everything improved at a much higher rate. Been doing it ever since (many, many years).
