OutKast really is the duo that garnered the attention and respect in other regions, that the south had been demanding for so long in the rap scene. The music was so different and just felt good. I remember that Source Awards. "The south got something to say." That was so brave and honest. Three stacks was just speaking from the heart, but he didn't know those words would be historic. People say they were ahead of their time. I say they were right on time. They were the balm rap music needed in the moment. It was stale, trite and that beefing BS was old. 'Kast and Goodie Mob got people back to rockin' and enjoying hip hop again. They are absolutely near the top of my G.O.A.T. list for music artists and they paved the way for so many southern artists. #Respect

I feel like they don't get credit for reinventing themselves constantly and being wildly successful. First they started with their low-key R&B sound, then they added Fergie and basically invented their own genre of theatrical hip-hop, then they pioneered electronic rap music and 2010s pop, then they went to reggaeton. It's just unreal. So nothing ever "happened" to them...
