These are very helpful videos, thank you. What is the role of solid rubber on the arm??
@saabmastertech5852
@saabmastertech5852 5 днів тому
The trailing arm is the piece of the suspension system that connects the vehicle's axle to its chassis. In addition to the trailing arm itself are the trailing arm bushings. These are rubber or polyurethane components that act as cushions and reduce friction between the suspension parts.👍

Saab Master Tech, great video. Thank you. Question, when you replace the 1999-2009 9-5 2.3L alternator, do you remove it from the bottom or the top? Cheers.

From the top. If you want to remove it from the bottom, need to remove the catalytic converter first.👍

According to WIS front caliper bracket bolt torque specs is 210Nm. I agree, it is high, when using the old bolts and bracket.

Another great video, first the removal and now the install. Great solution for the wood and zip ties to keep the exhaust from separating. Hopefully you found a subframe for a good price. Large supply still in UK and Europe but difficult in USA and Canada due to prices. Hopefully it was taken from a parts car and the customer can keep another Saab on the road. Great job.

Yes, shipping a subframe to Canada is pricy. I found one with a good price, but it needed a bushing that I saved from the old one, some cleaning and rust paint. Thanks.

Good video. Thanks. I’ve done this job using similar tools. With a threaded rod, multiple washers, etc., I use a 1 1/4” pipe end cup (Home Depot) - with a hole drilled through the center of the cup through which the threaded rod passes - to receive the old bushing that is pushed/pulled through and a 32mm 12 point socket to push the old bushing through the arm hole. I had the end of the 32mm socket cut off so the length of the socket is a total length of 3/4”. Machine shop can cut it down if you can’t. The modified 32mm socket is perfect for pushing out the old bushing or pushing in a new one. The socket is super hard and durable to push out the old bushing ring. And, like this guy’s video, first pound out the center of the bushing entirely or partially pound out and cut it off. You have to do this part or the old bushing will be too long to fit into the 1 1/4” receiving cup when you push it out.

Hello Saab Master, THX for the video. Can you give me a hint where these heated-Seat switch cables are going to? I replaced my non heated seats in a 2000 Saab 9-3 convertible, where there is no pre configured cable harness to the dash seat switches. I guess the cables come directly from the main harness?

Great video as always. How much would this job cost to remove and replace in your home province of Quebec? I was able to find esaab parts is currently selling the subframe on sale for 302 US. This appears to be a common issue in in Saab 9-3's in snow and salt road areas of the country. I have seen 2 go on sale in my area with the same issue of a rustry subframe and can't pass inspection. Thanks and keep the videos coming. If you can't quote numbers - just quote hours for the job and we can figure it out.

Thanks for posting this and Part 1. I have a 2010 E350 AMG Coupe and after replacing the rear left sensor I still have the fault, I am assuming it is the bloody ring. This video shows me what I need to do as I presume the process will be almost, if not, identical - although I will be doing this without the assistance of a car lift, axle stands and getting underneath.
