Have you made a bad video?? I always like to attach my lines to the tarp with a taught line hitch....if the weather is bad it means i can tighten up the tarp without going outside and getting wet
@elliotwilliams74212 дні тому
Another great video......personally im tarp first everytime and if the weather is ok i just pin out one side, fold the tarp over and clip the corners together if its a bit windy. Im in Scotland and the rain comes can come out of nowhere quickly. Ill not always set the hammock up until later, i carry a wee chair so if its raining younhave more space to cook and what not

Thanks for the video. Natural sustainable fibres for the win! My favorite base layer is merino wool. I tend to pack and travel light and soon realised that the natural antimicrobial and temperature regulating properties of wool can mean one merino top can replave at least three synthetic tops. Besides as i'm always wearing it, it doesn't count towards pack weight. I can go five days easy without body smell (as confirmed by others. ;-). Full disclosure. We don't make woolen outdoor clothes (just duvets) but after seeing your video we feel like we should!

If you are in an area that it always wet. It would be unwise to use down. And I would never hike with down. With perspiration and plus, the the brush would tear holes in the nylon shell. I really like your videos! Very useful tips for hammock beginners and i really appreciate that you're giving advice on how to make relatively cheap gear like foam pads work with a hammock! I'm using a ridge rest in my single layer hammock because, for me, its just awesome to have something to sit or lie in while taking a quick break from cycling, not having to care about punctures and don't have to spend that much money on an (proper) underquilt. I tried to tackle the problem of the pad sliding around in the hammock (might upgrade on a double layer sometime) with some of this (i don't even know the correct word in german :D) fabric you put under carpets so that they don't slide around. Just put it some patches of it in the hammock under the pad and it prevents from sliding.

I've got stingers and Wasps. i like them both. But the thing I believe the Wasp has over the Stinger is that with the Stinger the line has to come all the way back to the tarp, which means you use twice as much line, or you gat half as much distance. The Wasp allows you to locate it way back near the tree, so you can use more of your line if you need it.
@AdventureswiththeMarine8 днів тому
I really like my Stingers. That is because I think I got stung!

I think the Hangtime Hook would be good for if it rains and you get stuck under your tarp for a while. Although I'd probably just enjoy the sound of the rain and go to sleep

@vesanius112 днів тому
Usually the bottom side of the sleeping bag doesn't have as much fill as the topside, because it doesn't do much there anyway. You will be much better with a top quilt instead.
@AdventureswiththeMarine8 днів тому
But remember. You can always migrate the down. ( moving the down with your form front. To the back). Thank you Vesanius for watching. I really appreciate it.
@vesanius18 днів тому
@@AdventureswiththeMarine Absolutely if the structure of the sleeping bag allows that. Mine for example has separated sections for the down so it all doesn't go to one end, so I couldn't do it. But if you can then it's great that you can use it as a quilt when needed.

Awesome gear choices! I have the same hammock, hex tarp, headlamp and backpack. Great minds think alike. Love them and you will be happy. The hammock is really nice. I love mine. I normally lay with my head to the left but had no issues to the right. I have the hex tarp but at 11 foot. I’m thinking I should have gotten the 12 foot since it doesn’t have the doors. I’ll have to measure my quilted hammock they sent me. I thought it was 11 foot. If it’s 10 I was very comfortable and maybe I can start getting shorter hammocks and save weight. Good luck with your ultralight journey. Your body will thank you at the end of a long hiking day. Outstanding video Ron!
