Last season was my first time growing carrots, I had the Scarlett Nantes variety but one problem I found is they grew crooked at the bottom. Does this mean my soil was too compact?

So basically composting BEFORE and then adding stuff after it has been broken down is the way to go - IF you are going to be using that stuff etc . . Personally as a gardener I use osmocote ( or equivalent ) and frequent watering as well as sometimes miracle gro type additives to the water. And that's it.

What part of San Diego are you in? I live in SD too, I’m by Lemon Grove, is this area a different zone than you’re at? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge, I’ve been gardening for about 30 yrs, and I’m still learning all the time!! Happy Growing!!! 🌞🌱

when it comes to the first flush filter... instead of a horizontal pipe, use a 45 degree below where the horizontal or entry to tank would be.. this will cause an even better first pass flush. Think that when the debris that comes down the pipe with the rain water, it's also passing by water that is overflowing into your 'clean' tank... you want everything to settle to the bottom of your collection pipe so by having a 45 lower you won't have the chance of the debris getting 'sucked' into the clean tank as it passes by your clean water flow. I hope I articulated that well enough for those who know to understand.. if you know you have seen how there are still some debris, albeit very small pieces and amounts but it builds up over time in your clean tank... the tip I'm explaining will help to negate that minor issue.

So I just finished building this aeroponic garden and habanero peppers are one of the types I’m growing so I’m curious to know if this will be easy enough for me with the way I rigged it up. In theory I should be able to save all my roots

Everyone should be made aware that all galvanized steel contains trace amounts of lead. The beds in this video are galvanized. The galvanization process creates lead as a result of impurities in zinc. This is unavoidable. I wouldn't recommend using galvanized steel in anything you plan to grow food out of. Just use lumber. It's more eco-friendly anyway.

My mom is Hungarian. Although I was born and raised in America, the culinary culture of Hungary has always held a special place in my heart. I like to joke that a Hungarian snack is an American meal, a Hungarian meal is an American feast, and a Hungarian feast is an American banquet. We definitely know how to eat good! Once thing’s for sure, and it’s that our food is delicious! 😊
