Why say VFD? You think all VFD are less than paid FD? I was a VFD for 15 yrs on 3 depts, i can say VFD are professionals and take the job very seriously and care about their community's. I've even seen some FD that make you scratch your head in wonder and disbelief.

This was my home - the fireman did an AMAZING JOB. The fire hydrant was old and the cap wouldn’t come off - they ended up having to break it I believe to access the water. They went above and beyond as they removed many valuable/electronic items from the back bedroom and placed my large bookcase on pavers from the backyard to save it from water damage. I am forever grateful to Salinas Fire Department ♥️♥️♥️

I had the same thing here, I asked them not to smoke on the roof but they did, fortunately I caught them an said no smoking on the roof.

THIS MAKES MY BLOOD BOIL AS HOT AS THIS FIRE!!!! THANK GOODNESS my mom has 2 brothers and her daddy was in construction, renovation, etc for YEARS and I worked in mortgage so I KNOW who to hire and not. BUT THEY SAID THEY HAVE FIRED ALOT OF WORKERS RECENTLY FOR BS & OF course if they got hurt who would have to pay med bills or they will turn around and sue and I PRAY EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE GUYS HAS ZERO JOB NOW!!!! ​@@JB91710 Did I say to use the ladder? No. But it should have been placed in front of the building in case it was needed. This is a Std. Operating Procedure for many large professional FD's.

You are 100% accurate! However this was a topical fire. Initially it was contained to the roof, even up until FD was on seen! You can see that because the fire fighter took the initial line and attempted to do an attack from the front of the garage with the one and a half. I hadn’t been me I would’ve attacked from the roof with the inch and a half to stop any extension. But as I always say, I was not on scene. This is not my fire. Ultimately, the house was saved, and no life was lost and that’s the bigger more important objective. The doors being open indeed, and in fact, gave a lot of oxygen to the interior however, initially, the fire was contained to the roof.

Garden hoses have no effect on a fire like this. And it puts the person on the nozzle end in danger. 20 year FF.

If the fire was in the garage, the house would be full of smoke. In the begining all the smoke and fire was on the roof.

yeah I'm a 1st Responder and it's situations like this that make my blood boil as hot as this house fire. I mean THEY COULD HAVE HELPED HER LOOK FOR HER CATS AND HER KEYS ASKED IF ANYTHING ELSE MEGA IMPORTANT.!!!!!!!!! Or WHEN it started automatically rolled or kicked all the stuff off the top and would be less flammable raw objects to make it worse for people like us. Also they were soooooo worried about THEIR TOOLS instead of helping her. FORTUNATELY in the state that I am in we tend to get the more compassionate workers BUT THEY DIDN'T EVEN MOVE THEIR DANG TRUCK. THIS is one that I'm glad isn't long because I couldn't watch too much of their attitude!!!! Oh I'm furious.

@@heathertownsend949 I was infuriated as well! The heat looked intense, so I can’t imagine what you and your colleagues endure…I’m just thankful for y’all…and thankful you have great empathy. I was wondering why they didn’t roll the roofing off, either. It’s extremely flammable. None of those guys offered any consolation….only worried about their own ass. Don’t know if you noticed, but one actually tore the posted permit off the burning garage…they were going to deny they were at the scene. Thank goodness for the quick-thinking neighbor videoing the entire event. She’ll be able to get justice for her poor, little cats, and for the careless actions that led to her home being destroyed. Some items, sadly, can’t be replaced, however, besides a civil suit, hopefully criminal charges can be filed against those pos. Makes me wonder if they even informed her that her house was on fire? The smoke was heavy the first time she ran out of her home. Nothing can replace your family members..that’s how I consider pets, but I hope and pray she’s rebuilding her life and getting therapy for the sake of her health. This video is, by far, the most heartbreaking fire I’ve seen on UKposts. Like you, I’m glad it was short…just enough to help her with a court case, though. That’s the only upside.
