But why are there no freaking mudguardmounts with Lauf bikes, the "there are good strap on mudguards" is just bullshit!
@a1white
@a1white 13 годин тому
Totally agree. So many bikes now have huge tyre clearance, so could easily accommodate them. The damp proof course is a good hack though

A bit random but I looked into this bike after their original review where they said "if it were my money i'd choose this bike" Note that the price points being pushed via marketing/reviews don't typically take into account VAT/duties from the US, so if you're UK-based you'll need to whack on an extra 20% which completely negates the perceived price point advantage over bigger brands. The base bike shown here is £3700+ post-VAT, and an extra 100 for shipping. To each his own but I wouldn't touch it unless I lived in the US (0 VAT). In the UK there are simply better deals to be found from more established/trusted brands which have higher R&D, and are more likely to be around to support you post-purchase.

Can you please do a video where 3 bike fitters all do a fit for one rider, then they have to discuss with each other how none of their fits are identical and explain their reasoning. I’d find that fascinating

Interesting. I'm 43, now, and my weekly rides are generally quite high intensity (not that I'm terribly strong or fast). I was planning on riding every day the next week I have off, though now I'm adjusting my plans for what most of those rides will entail.

I hv a 2014 Elite. It came with full 105 and is abt a pound less. $1400. I thought abt getting rid of it for a hot second once I got my carbon Fuji. Soooo glad I ddnt. Upgraded some of the components to Ultegra, repainted it,. . . .luv that bike. Will never part with it

I used to hate endurance sports. But as I have grown older, I respect it so much more as I learn just how hard it is. It's not about being the strongest, it's a complete combination of mental fotitude and management of energy, that management part is what gets me. The ability to manage your energy while racing others, keeping your self in a position to pop off right at the end without keeling over.

Cyclists (mostly pro) shave for three reasons: 1) Cycling shorts stick to bare skin better and stay in place. 2) Crashes/Road Rash. The paramedics are going to shave you anyway. I mean who wants to peel medical tape off of a hairy leg? Also, hairs harbor bacteria that can infect a wound. 3) After a race or stage, it's much easier for the team masseuse to massage bare skin with the application of liniments, lotions, oils, etc.

IDK, my inseam dictates a 52 cm frame and my height dictates a 56 cm frame. So I compromised and got a 54 cm frame. However, my arms are apparently shorter than normal for my height. Therefore, it seems that to reach the hoods causes me to slip towards the nose of the saddle while riding. So maybe I need a 52 cm frame. Or I need to install a shorter stem or I need to install a stem that is angled up. I really do not know what to do. Please advise?

I loved surly in the past. I've had a bunch of surly models over the years and still have a pugsley. I find them kinda meh now. No rim brakes, lower front ends, e bikes that cost way to much, no more LHT, or CC. 🤔🤷

Had a fit with Luke back in January and had a recent follow up fit where we made some further smaller adjustments. We made some pretty substantial changes to all contact points and as expected it’s taken a while to adjust. Comfort levels have gone up massively and my pedal stroke feels much more planted. I’ve been riding bikes for a long time and it’s reassuring to have support from fitters like Luke who are able to take into account each person’s particular injury history/nuances. Highly recommended!

Absolutely love my Secan 2.5 for bikepacking. But when I'm not bikepacking, I'm not a fan of the dampened steel feel. I much prefer the agile, and fast feeling of a good carbon bicycle.

Good overview, however one thing i'd point out is that tilting the saddle slightly down can have some benefits too, as in creating some important space to allow you to "roll your pelvis" (anteriorly). This can substantially reduce pressure in your lower back and smoothen your spine curvature and allow better upper back rounding + proper ribcage/diaphragm + scapular engagement, with the latter, as a result, also helping in freeing up your neck. Kind of important for lower back pain in people that naturally have a posterior pelvic tilt or that struggle with glutes and hamstrings stretch/recruitment and especially helpful to preserve comfort when in need of switching into drop position for a prolonged amount of time (ie strong headwinds). Yes the downside is that you will shift your center of mass slightly forward, have more pressure on hands and give your triceps some workout depending on your reach and stack measurements. How slippery the saddle is also limits you in this regard and makes this adjustment less worthy. Something for something.

Had a bike fit with Luke last month after 30 years of riding racing. Luke has changed several things a small amount, and my ride quality, comfort, connection to the bike has changed so much for the better it's incredible, thoroughly recommended.
