I used to live in Knoxville....it's going to be so pretty in about six weeks I would drive to Pigeon Forge, turn off and get out of all that crazy traffic and drive thru Townsend up into the Park. Sometimes I would just keep on going till I got to Cherokee.

We did this trail just 3 months ago in October for the fall colors. My wife and I brought her best friend with us. It was the first time she has been to a waterfall. Thanks for bringing back the memory!
@woodydotson35293 місяці тому
The Falls is nice -- but most (more than 90%) day hikers do not get to see the more rare and greater thing on this trail. Beyond the Falls are Old Growth Trees. Trees that were alive when our country was birthed in the 1700's -- it takes 4 people to stand at the trunk and lock fingers/hands with each other to go around the base of the trees.

My grandparents owned the farm adjacent to the waterfall. My grandfather used to write a column for the local newspaper called, "From the Waterfall." I have many fond memories of exploring the old grist mill as a young boy. When I was very young, the water wheel was still in place, but it rotted away and was eventually removed when I was young. The mill building (such as it was at the time) was eventually purchased by the owners of the Museum of Appalachia, disassembled, and transported to their facility for preservation as best as they could. I was sorry to see it go, but glad it went there.

Live near Bean Station and travel through there all the time. Will have to locate this area. Bean station has a very interesting history. Wish they could find the disassembled Bean Station Tavern. TVA took it down when they flooded the area and put it somewhere to protect it. But its lost! Thanks for the info.😊

Going west from BS on 11W, cross bridge just after First Baptist Church, there is a pull off on the left. Island is available now with lake Cherokee water level lowered

@@TG-East-TN Appreciate the info. Husband and I will go exploring!! We both love the local history. I'm told by local historians, three US Presidents, Polk, Johnson and Jackson, traveling by stagecoach, (on then stagecoach routes), stayed at Bean Station Tavern. They were heading to the Mississippi to go to New Orleans on the Country's business. They went over Clinch Mt., toward the then town of Lone Mt, (now Tazewell/New Tazewell.) They went down Lone Mt Rd In Claiborne County, down 33, west to the Mississippi. Of course all stagecoach trails then. Had you heard that history? Will search out Battlefield. And, my cousin, who metal detects, did a local Civil War battlefield here in Tazewell recently. Besides the expected bullets, she found a brooch. Local jeweler says its mid 1800s, cooper dipped in 18k gold. Doesn't have gems but has polished stones. While gold is mostly worn off, a little bent, but in pretty good condition. Speculation - it belong to a woman killed in that area on her wedding day when wagon flipped. More...but. thanks again for info.

I find a Greystone Heights Road outside of Gatlinburg connecting to Campbell Lead Road using Google Maps. Is this the same as shown in the video? Maybe Google has it spelled incorrectly?

From the Smokies end it's Graystone, from Gatlinburg end it's Campbell, they meet about half way

So many don't understand how much that helps with their use. Relying solely on grip strength doesn't give nearly enough support. With this method the actual grip can be mere fingertips for finesse while the wrist and forearm provides the strength and support.
