The O303 is a great coach to drive. The naturally aspired model engine is a bit underpowered, but still fun. They have a great turning circle.

also with the small pieces you used to lower, how did you find welding it onto the tin wall of coach, did you burn through much? i am not very experiened with weld but want to try this, did you use flux core and can you remember your rough settings

So unfortunately I have lost the videos because one of my hard drives broke. But I was able to weld to the actual frame of the bus and not to the thin metal. My welder has pre-programmed settings for different thicknesses and I found that to work well for me at 3mm. I am also an inexperienced welder tho. The main thing I did was to work with the framing I had. Because the original frame didn't run inline with the main upright supports in the storage bay I used those small pieces to get the height to the same as isle. I then added another cross beam from each of those uprights in the storage bay that ran width ways across the bus so it wouldn't just rely on those small drop down pieces. Bare in mind tho that I haven't got this engineered yet. But I've added as much support as I could and my bus has the big chassis rails running through it and the bus frame runs right under the storage bays as well so the flooring section is just a small part of the whole system. I also only cut out and replaced one rib at a time to reduce the risk of anything moving out of place, if that even is a risk.

I love you to show just one part of the floor in normal speed as a follow a long, as you say once one done it gets easier but sometimes someone to show and lead the way would go along way

I was just wondering if you had to have the floor reengineered after lowering it?

Hi Brett, yes the floor will need to be approved by the engineer when I go through the registration process

The recycling shower water is a create idea since you have that perfect cavity under the floor. Hopefully it won't require much maintenance or filter changes often in the small space, it's all coming along nicely tho

Rust and leaks! Our O303 had both. We were told ours had no major rust. When we removed the windows the pillars and waist rails were that bad we had to cut and replaced with new 50mm box steel. Not sure if it varies from bus builder. Ours is an MCA. Best wishes with your build.
@doncoleman4938
@doncoleman4938 Рік тому
How much headroom does that now give? Our O303 has an MCA body which was built with a flat floor. At the highest point we have about 1920mm. Suits us as we're only about 175cm tall.

I think it will be around 200-202cm when everything is done but I can't remember exactly. What I figured out

Aah Roof leaks! Our O303 had leaks mainly where we removed the AC pod and above the driver's seat. Took a while to get rid of them too. The floor of the driver's seat was rotted away from water, so had to replace with marine ply. Look forward to catching up one day on the roads.

Yeah the front windows also leak so that will be a fun job. Hopefully there won't be to much rust around the window seal. I have also removed the AC pod so hopefully it doesn't become a problem for me as well 😂 but they were leaking pretty badly before I done anything

Really looking forward to more videos. We have purchased a Scania Coach to do the same and I found your floor video very helpful. Where are you guys located? Looks great. Excited to see your progress. 👌🏻👌🏻

Did you put any protection on the underside of the plyboard? I wonder if you’d be worried about any possible moister getting in and damaging the floor? I seen the steel sheets over the wheels which is a great idea. Love the work mate
@benzaround3945
@benzaround3945 Рік тому
No I didn't but I used all marine plywood so it can withstand a bit. I will be sealing under the wheel arches as well so hopefully it won't be an issue

@@benzaround3945 We put bitumen paint on the underside of the floor area under the driver's seat when I replaced that bit. Had been a leak above the driver's side windows which rotted the wood out over the years. Top layer of the timber has waterproofing.

Awesome work. Foundation for a really unique, cool bus. The pop up workstation is a cool idea, but I suggest designing your complete layout in detail against your needs and wants before making a final decision. Part of the space might be a good spot for a diesel heater.

Thanks Tim, yeah I've designed the full layout I'm just waiting until Amber gets back and we'll lay the floor plan out and make the final decisions. There's just a couple spots where we need to see how it feels in the bus.

Yeah I think it's worth it after I put the insulation on the floor and flooring then the roof it will be 200cm in the middle of the bus and 192cm on the sides which is perfect for me because I'm 183cm tall and amber's a lot shorter then me 👌🏻

Love these was fuel economy a consideration And turbo replacement any cause for concern for you?
@benzaround3945
@benzaround3945 Рік тому
Yeah fuel economy was definitely on my mind when I was looking for a bus. But I knew most of them would be thirsty anyway so as long as our bus was mechanically sound had, under storage and a good ceiling height to work with we were set. I haven't had a good chance to test the fuel economy properly but going over the mountain range from Lismore to Inverell we got 49L/100km. No but it also helps our bus only has 370000km on it and the maintenance records were really good

All really good questions. Thanks for the feed back and we'll definitely do a video about us and the bus very soon. The bus cost 21k and I'm a mechanic but I try to pick up as many skills as I can because I think it will make life a lot easier one day.

You were lucky! On many coaches the seat bolts go vertically through the floor and often get a bit rusty from years of mopping and hosing. That causes the nuts in the bins to just turn and not loosen. We've just sold our O303 motorhome.
