The ASUS X99-E WS USB 3.1 is a beautiful mainboard. Although a bit older, she still has class & elegance. But where is the CMOS chip located? With a view to the usual shapes of CMOS chips, I would guess it's directly in front of the PCIe slots 2 & 3, but since there's no labelling, I'm not really sure.

I would really recommend yuou to get a Phenom II X4 ( or X6 if it has support for it ) cpu for that motherboard. Some other graphic card might also help.

I have this same motherboard and FX 6300,only difference is that i have Sapphire Nitro RX 580 8GB It works pretty good on 1080.

I'm currently using this motherboard but the non-gaming version (still use it for gaming). But in 2024 it's still very good and functional. Everything is still working. My 2014 asus mobo has broken audio and graphical problems. The bios also looks great and has mouse control. Old MSI motherboards are still great!

Hi, I just installed this motherboard and cpu in a pc but it still has the same issue as old components…. Runs at 100% cpu usage when playing fortnite and bad fps. Any ideas of a fix??

I have the same board ASUS X99-E WS USB3.1 with Intel Core i7 6800K (but with gpu GTX 1080 TI). Problem is I'm constantly stuck in POST error code D6. Have already tried a lot, all the usual stuff. I think (hope) that the problem is with the bios, although I've updated bios on newest version 4001, and a couple of older versions, too. Is it maybe that this mainboard with cpu Intel Core i7 6800K only works with a specific older bios version (but not the newest)?

bad build, you shouldn’t use a stock cooler on a hot cpu, you can get high quality cpu coolers for 15usd

Am I right when I see the bottom fan space doesn't have a magnetic filter. I'm assuming it should be sucking the cool air into the case, and could possibly suck in any dirt that accumulates under the case. I like the compact build, very neat. I came to see the case, was considering buying it.
