Sanders was very good at a very few things. One of his best was getting publicity and another was playing 2 different pro sports franchises against each other to make more money. I was an observer when he was playing college and pro. He desperately wanted to be Bo Jackson, the modern pioneer of playing 2 pro sports, and a much better all around athlete who unfortunately had his career cut short due to a severe football injury. Jackson was a better baseball player and played running back in football where he needed speed AND strength, and absorbed and delivered much more punishment. Sanders' success in both sports was basically a result of his tremendous speed. In football he played DB and rarely, if ever made the jarring tackle seen in the NFL today, and was able to run down ball carriers and collar them. What he did do very well is cover recievers and run back punts, again because of his speed. He wisely managed to avoid a lot of punishment due to football contact . In baseball he had a high percentage of triples and stolen bases per at bats, both statistics that benefit from speed. However he didn't have offensive power, had a mediocre batting average, struck out twice as much as he drew walks (a stat that would have helped his team more if reversed due to his base stealing ability) and always got huge publicity when he would start off the season "hot" but soon would become very average . This narrator's excited voice throughout the video makes it seem like Sanders set both sports on fire every year, but he had way more publicity (Prime Time) than he would have if he stuck to one sport. Granted he DID play 2 pro sports at once...a tremendous feat, and managed to make himself rich doing it. Good for him for knowing how to market himself. But I always wondered what kind of NFL career he would have had if he played football exclusively and stayed healthy. He played for 4 teams over parts of 9 seasons in baseball. He played for 5 teams for the majority of 16 seasons in football. His most remarkable feat might be coming back to the NFL after being retired for 3 years and playing 2 more full seasons! He became a star once again after he permanently retired, doing NFL analysis on TV .

All of these "enforce it or get rid of it" people don't understand baseball... or life. Would these same people happily accept a speeding ticket for going 26 or 27 mph in a 25 mph zone? Stubborn, narrow-minded people who don't understand the game but still spout off knee-jerk reactions are ruining baseball!

This rule shouldn't be strictly enforced unless the purpose is deemed to be stealing signs or interfering with the other team's play or communication. And maybe it should be enforced "pre-pitch", but there are reasons a coach may need to move to get into their base runner's vision. The unwritten rule is that if you're positioning yourself to communicate with your runner, it should be fine. But if you're moving to affect the other team in any way (stealing signs or distracting them), that's bush-league. In this case, the Blue Jays may have had a good reason to protest. The Yankees don't get any benefit of the doubt with me.
