I think I like the original burned walnut the best but all 3 designs were very cool. Excellent piece. Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing

Just a quick question. How’d you replace the push open telescopic sliders just in case?

I was watching this video in bed, stopping, replaying and turning the phone to get a better view of details. My wife came in and thought I was watching porn! I kind of was. Wood porn!!! 😂😂😂😂 She loved the desk too... 😉

Listen, the biggest Kreg pro pocket hole jig is $2000. It does one thing only. And then every woodworker on UKposts is excusing using the $1500 Festool Domino??!!! In the world of professional tools, $1500 is a drop of water in the ocean! 😏

I really hope you are doing more with this super bendy wood technique. That is the technical term yes. It's really beautiful. I actually got to see similar stuff when I would stay at my dad's friend's house where her and her husband would build their own sailboats as well as other things all out of wood. They eventually built a try maran that they sailed around the world in. She always like to do the super bendy wood technique to make small details and she did not disappoint in her own trimoran. They also used to keep sawdust of different types of wood in different jars so that they could smell the different types of wood. Anyway I do hope you continue with the super bendy wood technique. Should we say contortion wood? Maybe it should be called the yoga wood technique lol anyway as far as that client it's not like he completely had you do the whole design and then didn't give you any money or anything. You had design time that you spent but you get to do the design anyway you can always sell that design to a different client and you did learn a valuable lesson and in the end it's all about did you learn something but at the same time think about if that client happened to watch this video and yes you said that because of him you learned a very valuable lesson for your business but you also said he screwed you and I wouldn't call him helping you come up with a fabulous bed idea that you just made even better in any way screwing you. At some point and when he first started doing woodworking I am sure that you spent many hours pro bono designing different elegant wood pieces for the same client who just commissioned this bed you know the same one who thinks that name is a bad one. Yeah you. If the guy had lied to you and said cool let's do it and then came back and said yeah honestly I can't afford it after you started working then that's a different story but one way or another as an artist you would have spent that time designing that bed anyway one way or another. As an artist I know you're your own worst critic but at the same time until somebody asks they don't know how much something maybe. Just like with painting people don't understand just how much paint can cost and canvas and the brushes that are used and the time and a lot of people are very good at underestimating their own work and others. You never know if now or in the future that same client may end up being able to afford what he couldn't before but now he and others like him or others who maybe interested but not know exactly how much it may cost may see this video where you talk about a client screwing you because of a design you chose to do and eventually got to build for yourself and if you were that client would you still appreciate the artist after that? That being said I don't think back then you would have ever thought to put the yoga wood on the bed so in the end you came out on top. Never know what lessons you'll learn along the way in this journey called life

How does the domino cope with going through timber? Is there tear out on the exit side? (I'm looking to find a better way to cut grooves on curved timber) Cheers!

It looks nice but its not practical. Imagine a mattress on top plus 2 people on it with their pillows and backs prop'd up against the headboard watching tv. After a while, those leafs will snap off

Nick, your work is absolutely amazing art. Thank you for sharing your videos...they're mesmerizing! Question for you, if you have time to answer...You mentioned Sketchup as your design software. I have a basic understanding and use of sketchup. But, I want to make an "organic" shaped TV console and haven't figured out how to use Sketchup this way. Straight lines, yes. ARCs, yes. But an organic shape like your tabletop in this video. Did you use Sketchup? Any recommendations for me? Thank you.

This is very nice work. The final piece and the way you showcased it at the end of the video as 3 different options was very well done. I can say though I was left wondering and wanting to see more. A 4th option combining the 1st and second, charred dimples. And as I write this another comes to mind. The bent wood, backed by another piece that has been charred and dimpled, as a layered effect giving it depth. I hope all that makes sense and in no way takes away from your work or comes off as "you should have" but as possible inspiration for future projects.

@pedullastudio can I ask what thickness of brass you used for the surround? And do you have any concerns with it surrounding everything, in terms of wood movement? I want to line the edge of a tabletop with a thin piece, but am having concerns, so might want to use several 12” pieces. Thanks! And beautiful work as always.

In my humble yet professional opinion - you aren't a designer before you create your own specialist tools. You however have elevated that sentiment to a piece of art. ..if I ever win in lottery and fulfill old dreams of The Home Workshop, I'm definitely going to commission a workbench because you *get* the need of specialist parts that otherwise seem like overkill. Until then I'll have to make due & make what I can. :p

people like you makes me wonder why on earth have I chose to be an Electrician!?!?!?!? I started buying some basic tools to have a go at woodworking for my own place, and all the furniture you made it with curves and the bending technique just blew my mind. A big thank you, honestly. Keep on going master! 🙂

The final result looks cool, but you are still using flat slates.. so much effort for a less comfortable experience than you can get from ikea.
