I agree with much, in fact most, of what Douglas Murray says. I read him. I watch podcasts where he is invited to speak and I admire his mind. I also believe that sometimes he paints with a very broad brush. For example, Jews at present are not being criticized for having a state or even wanting to have a state or being justified in wanting to have a state. Israel is not being criticized for defending itself nor for its desire to eradicate Hamas. It is being criticized for its manifest indifference to the Balfour Declaration, the document, flawed as it was, among others that lead to the creation of Israel. The inhabitants of Palestine were guaranteed protection of their rights and freedoms by that declaration. Those rights and freedoms have not been protected. The rise of Hamas and the subsequent atrocities cannot be without a legitimate grievance. Israel’s legitimate desire to eradicate Hamas and protect itself against terrorists cannot be at the cost of the lives of thousands of civilians. The aims of Israel may not be met by entirety peaceful means but a better way to achieve their objective MUST be found, and a way forward for both populations to occupy this territory must be achieved. To say that one must be anti-Semitic if one is anti-Israel is false. I am not anti-Semitic nor am I anti-Israel but I am anti-Zionist and anti Netanyahu.

More than two thousand years of population subjugation doesn't just dissolve with the introduction of industrialisation in China, supported by Western technology. I would have loved to have been sitting in the audience when he visited North York Ontario. This man has enlightened me so much in such a short period of time. My world Civilization and western civics class were both taught by Mr. Rocca, awarded as one of the best teachers in the United States in the late 1970’s. I’m so thankful to have had some teachers dedicated to teaching foundational history. It was only 42 years ago. My how the educational system deteriorated. In my case I attribute value to my grandparent being available to care for me while mom was working. Unfortunately my children didn’t have surviving grandparents or grandparents that chose to not be involved. Thank God for my grandparents!
