I absolutely love the zoe podcasts, I've learned so much from them! It's always a treat when a new episode comes. But Jonathan, when can a gal from Norway be a zoe member?

My aunt went through horrible menopause. Never understood, one minute she was nice, the next minute she was yelling, and screaming! I thought she was going crazy. It was never talked about, and still not talked about. So happy dr. Haver,is educating us. I have both of her books! And have shared the book with my daughter so she doesn’t have to suffer the way my aunt did, or the thousands of women out there! Thank you dr. Haver❤️

when i was young i suffered from hormonal imbalance and gynocologiests always wanted to get me to get pregnant now that i am menopausal no one wants to help me with the symptoms. they say: live with it! Thank god i found help from outside my country with an HRT clinic. They should have helped me with my hormones instead of forcing me to get pregnant 😡 something that never materialised

The importance of good dental health is really important to hear confirmed - but it highlights how negligent UK governments have been over decades by gradually separating dental checks from the NHS. There are so many things policy makers in Gov could do to not only improve the overall health of the population but also to reduce the cost of NHS and social care services. Unfortunately - the food, alcohol and tobacco industry - and probably also pharma have too much of a stranglehold on politicians to allow these changes to happen.

Can Zoe investigate body identical hormones so important for older women’s health. Do post menopausal women really improve gut, skin, heart health with lifestyle changes if their oestrogen receptors are not being activated?

i am 75 and really enjoy IF. i walk 5 miles every morning and take no medications. my eating window is 8 hours and that works for me. and you are so right, your taste buds totally change. but the most important thing is what you eat during that window. and that should include a large variety of sprouts. the seeds are cheap to buy and easy to grow. i don't know why so few nutrition informational channels mention this.

This was the most comical comments section ever! priceless...Turning protein into a religion. Most experiences i read speak about weight loss and muscle composition as the bench mark of success. How about basics like high urea and kidney function? Parasitical exposure, heart stress, joint degradation? Accelerated aging signs, ruddy skin, hair loss, muscle stiffness. No dialogue about that, only muscles and body fat. Its ok,, lets see the aging factor with high protein consumption, the bad breath and body odor, the mood alterations. These are all real.. Just because you eat protein it doesn't mean you digest it. Undigested protein and high urea with high sodium is an excellent start for ionization of tissue, blood vessels, joints, and heart risk. If you lack stomach acid, parasites can get busy, gut microbiome ratios promote pathogenic growth of all the things you don't want. Being able to eat anything and create energy is SuperHuman. You don't live from the food you eat but from the energy you can receive from the food you eat. disease is demineralization, Not lack of protein. Protein is amino acids, Amino acids are Nitrogen, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Carbon, Calcium, Phosphorus and Potassium in the outer ring. The point is. The body can convert protein or carbs into energy in the presence of hydrogen and nitrogen. This is all physics and chemistry not a religious perspective about how much protein you can eat. feeling good is not an indicator of health either. I have seen many people who claimed they felt great face plant before 45 years old or even younger from excessive protein. Longevity first.

Fibre is a waste product that you don't actually need unless you stuff massive daily amounts of carbs down your neck to continually spike your blood sugars and give yourself diabetes and other life threatening diseases. Stop eating high carbs and you dont need fibre for anything especially pooping

Brilliant and informative discussion. A quick question for Prof. Tim and Merlin..... As someone who has been diagnosed as having Crohn's Disease recently, how do fungi sit in the recommended diet for those with IBD. Google has conflicting results ranging from "helpful" and "exacerbating auto-immune response" . Do you have any views on this and has there been any studies on this? As a Zoe app user and a part of the IBD community, I would be super interested in taking part in any study on this? Thanks

Hi if you’re a female (by sex) watching this … be careful how much coffee you consume because it blocks iron absorption. Most women are low on iron. Even those of you red meat eaters. Also be careful of organic yogurt and veggies in the US because of chemicals that block endocrine in your body and growing IGF. Take care.

The guest is of exceptionally high quality, and everything she said is measured and carries weight. The host on the other hand, rambles mindlessly for the sake of words. This is such a shame, because he is depriving us of really powerful information, and disrupting the flow and volume of delivery of the guest. He has single handedly reduced the quality of information that we could get out of this. Facilitation, asking questions are all good. But he is doing way more than that, and his mindless words are all dead weight that drags everything down. It is a huge shame.

Ppl have pontificated on this but i struggle to understand this. I eat once a day, perhaps not longer than an hour between say 5:30 and 7:30 PM. The meal itself no longer than 30min to 45 min. However, i do enjoy a cup or two of coffee around 7:30ish AM. I have likely not more than a tablespoon of half-and-half in each, 20 calories/tbsp. Why does that 40 calories break the fast?

After my periods stopped I got sore knees, sore neck, muscle weakness and aches, terrible fatigue, frequent migraine. I thought there must be something seriously wrong with me and went to the doctor multiple times for tests etc. She never once suggested it was menopause - nor did other doctors in the practice. It probably was as these symptoms came on overnight and I have adjusted to them over the years.

Hm. I think they are several issues here that need considering. A .The number of participants - about 350 - doesn't seem to me to be enough to justify and hard and fast conclusions. B. The motivation of people in the PDP group could well be higher than those in the control group. The former group as the methods section sets out have regular contact with the research team and various measurements are taken (blood glucose for example). I don't think it is surprising that these folk stick the advice being given. C. In essence, this trial is comparing the self recorded dietary intake of the control group against the self recorded dietary intake of the PDP group. So the most we can say is that the USA general dietary guidelines, if adhered to, give in the case of some physiological measures poorer results than the PDP group. So perhaps the USA guidelines need amending and similar benefits would accrue. D. We can't tell which aspect of the PDP regime has which impact. My conclusion is that the diet followed by the PDP group gave some potential health benefits compared to the control group. I say potential because is the comparative reduction in TG clinical relevant?
