Tbh a lot of the money that pays for the ads is stolen straight from people's bank accounts sometimes. I use PayPal to buy anything online and I even had someone use my PayPal to pay for fake Louis vitton purse ads on meta ads manager. Thankfully I got a notification and was able to cancel the ads and remove my information before any money was taken but the ads were still published by these random accounts to Facebook with my information. Tik tok is accepting stolen funds to also further steal from people. I'm not worried about tik tok getting our information, they just steal our money. I don't ever buy anything off ads, unless it's real websites that I already know

I use to work for company that would screen ads for instagram/facebook, but it got shut down in favor of automation/AI. 😔😔 my job would typically be watch/look at an ad, check out the website and answer some questions and a write up about whether or not the ad looked like it was from a legit company or not. I reported so many fake/scamy companies like the ones here. it was actually an incredibly fun job as I discovered so many legitimate and interesting products. i was really sad when they closed down, even though it was menial work i still felt like i was doing some good in helping to weed out scams. edit: for anyone wondering, no i didn't have the final say in whether a company's ad got on the site or not. basically a lot of workers all viewed the same ads and then an auditor would look over everything and make the final decision.
