In my opinion: It would be hard to have a taxi on demand without a flat fee. Have to think of it as a tip (To Insure Prompness). Also kick backs probably happen between taxis & hotels as is typical in the hospitality/ travel industry. I wouldn't think of it as a rip off, just don't tip the driver. Speaking of which... You shouldn't tip foreign or US territories the same as in the States. You have to match value to the conversion rate or risk being targeted for all your money. Example: You eat lunch in Cozumel Mexico & leave a $5 tip. You want to save your $, but feel guilty it was less than 10% of your total bill. In reality your tip was worth $125 in their own currency, it's a very generous tip. Everything costs more to an American traveler so keep that in mind when you buy stuff. Most jewlery & watches would be fake knockoffs. And stuff gets cheaper the more in land you go even though you get further away from the protection of the tourist police. The cances of SA & robbery increase. SA for all females regardless of age & robbery for all males if you're not careful. Just saying, be under the umbrella of the tourist areas.

Great video! A friend of ours sailed with us out of Tampa in early 2023. He had a monkey fist knot keychain and they confiscated by security at the Tampa port. They said it could be used as a weapon. He didn't realize it was in his bag. He also had an unopened bottle of hot sauce in his bag and they took that away as well. He was bringing it to a friend who lives in Belize we were going to meet up with while in port. It was unclear as to why but I am guessing it was because it is a food item, or because it was in a glass bottle? The security person was apparently quite aggressive with our friend and also took things from the person ahead of him. We were in a different security line so we didn't witness the whole thing. We just saw then end of it while we waited for him.

I think in general Celebrity, especially the Edge class, is great and if money wasn't a factor I would go on them whenever I had the chance. Unfortunately with all the changes over the last few years, cutbacks, changes in how they sell cruises (gratuities no longer included) and increases of cruise fares and items onboard, I think they're falling out of the value for money category. To the point where this year we're having land holidays, while Celebrity and the cruise industry as whole readjust and stabilise. I would hate to book a cruise and then when I got onboard realise it was no longer exactly as advertised, which is what's been happening.

We love port days on the ship. It's so much more quiet and relaxing. Especially during our Mediterranean cruise on the Beyond, we've been to most of the ports via land holidays before, so out of the 9 port days (only had 2 sea days in an 11 days cruise) we only got off the ship once. When on a gorgeous ship like that, the last thing I would want to do is get in a bus to go somewhere or stand in queues in the heat (Santorini). It was great 🙂

Thank you for the review. When we were on the Beyond, the food at Eden was the best we've ever had in any restaurant, not just on a cruise ship ! We were lucky to get loads of onboard credit with our cruise, so used part of that to eat at Eden 3 nights out of the 11 night cruise.

For the view yes, but you have to be careful with aft cabins. That's where you're most like to be above or below something like a nightclub, bar and/or terrace where chairs get dragged around

The ship is private property. They can make and uphold any rules they see fit.

Most of the dos and donts are for YOUR safety and comfort, choose your ship carefully, don’t choose one that caters for children if are not taking children of your own! Italian ships are normally child friendly! We were in dock one day and an MSC came in, I have never seen so many pushchairs, there babies in the pushchairs, toddlers running around, all very happy little souls. The ship we were on was, shall we say a quieter one which suited us. We enjoyed this ship so much, that we repeated it 7 or 8 times!

CBD-related items are extremely problematic for cruise lines because some of them can produce contaminant fumes and particulates that are both very difficult to remove and very likely to cause a substance-finding inspection dog to react where they were used, even days or weeks later. Since there are places where such things are still even more prohibited than they used to be in the US, and cruise ships may visit those locales, they simply cannot risk having any of it on board at all. It's very rare, but cruise ships have been seized (yes, the whole ship) because of such unwanted items.

I would really be curious to know you mentioned free food besides the main restaurant is the buffet what time does the buffet close does that mean from the buffet closing time till 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning there is no free food option whatsoever?

What was odd for me in Miami was my experience that UBER was more expensive than a taxi. This was one of the few cities I have visited where it was better to take a taxi than UBER. It may have been the surge pricing but when I entered the destination in UBER and looked at the price, I opted to take a taxi and asked for a meter. I also have my GPS on similar to my UBER app. This happened 3 times during my stay. (From the airport, to dinner, and to the cruise terminal). There were times it was half the price of UBER. This also occurred during New Year's Eve in Miami when we were just staying in the city.

We once had a 4 outlet power board confiscated when embarking on a RC ship. It was tagged and we were told it would be returned at the end of the cruise. Sure enough, when disembarking it was there (we guess) at the end of the gangplank on tables with about 200 other power boards... we kept walking.

The yelling back and forth is just rude.

This type of scare video is a disservice to those who would otherwise have a satisfactory dining experience at the buffet. Food preference is extremely subjective and it’s not right that one person’s experience with scrambled eggs should dissuade others from eating the. Any island which is connected to the United Kingdom in any way usually has the same gun laws which are extremely strict. A single .22 round will land you in jail and no amount of Oh am sorry that’s my hunting bag will get you off! Australia:NZ is the same. So don’t bring a bag you usually do to the range with. You do Not have the right to bear arms an any other country than the US. Knives. I believe a small pocket knife with a blade no longer the 2 and a half inches long is allowed but check with your cruise company re their policies. If your at the port and find your 8 inch hunting knife has been packed I would suggest you let the staff know as they may well hold it for you… I know it wasn’t mentioned but bows/arrows/crossbows are not allowed either

Interesting. I no longer go on cruises. My ex-girlfriend dragged me on two. Both of them were like being locked in a mall for a week. I'm a traveler, not a tourist. The guy that got locked up for ammo most likely is a "tourist". I'm an avid shooter. So I have a dedicated "range bag", it never leaves the state, let alone the country. One reason is that I know that outside of the USA, most Governments don't play about firearms. Even if I decided to use my range bag to travel with and effectively clean out all of the external compartments, and the internal sections, a dog would alert on it due to gunpowder residue, or if the x-ray picked up a single shell casing, I'm getting put into "secondary". I took a significant other to the Dominican Republic and she was nervous going into the bank ATM because there was a security guard with a shotgun outside. I told her don't worry about it. He's there to make people like you feel safe, he doesn't have any shells. Ammunition is very hard to come by in most of the world. A cop down in DR had asked me to bring him a box of 9mm and a box of .12 gage.(he had been carrying the same rounds for 5 years) I told him "I do not care if your cousin works customs at the airport, I'm not a smuggler,( I did bring his kid a pair of Jordans though).Knives? I pack 'em my checked gear bag. I SCUBA dive. Depending on my destination. Belize has protected reefs. Granada and ST. Lucía does not. When diving off the coast of nations where people substance fish, you have a lot larger risk of being entangled in discarded nets or lines. and you need a knife. Weed? use edibles or vapes, one of the other passengers smelled it and told on your entitled ass. Not the attendant.

I will not go on a cruise ship. To much gear adrift. Open ocean storms suck and come at you quickly.. Slamming into a bulkhead sucks. Getting hit by a loose locker item or suitcase sucks more. Oh and there are bigger unsecured things on the ship that belong to the cruise ship. Yes I have been in 60-90 foot seas, 70-80 knot winds. That is when you want the bottom bunk. But I was not on the aircraft carrier. They got sea sick. Tying down stuff before leaving the harbor is normal. On a frigate or destroyer.

So no pirate flags.
