The overthrow of communism began in June 1956 in Poznań (revolt in the Cegielski factory and bloody street riots). As a sign of solidarity, the Hungarians started an uprising that was suppressed by the Soviet Army. It was similar in the Czech Republic in 1968. Then there was a bloody massacre of workers in Gdańsk and Gdynia in 1970 (commemorated by three high crosses in front of the Solidarity museum). Another workers' revolt in Ursus and Radom in 1976.
