oh that's something for me... I've never been to Bath and I would like to be... it's where Jane Austen lived for some time, in two of her books "Northanger Abbey" and "Persuasions" the action takes place there. And I know 2 movies that were shot there: "Duchess" with Keira Knightley, which I like, and Vanity Fair, which I don't like at all, such a hideous world is shown there...

5:11 - shot through the jacket of Ludwik Piernicki, murdered on December 17, 1970. His body was carried on the door during the protest. I wore this exact leather jacket from the 1980s to the mid-90s. I was a punk. Yes, the communist economy is an absurd system and, in addition, the country's debt in the 1970s with not very good investments contributed to the collapse of the PRL. But there is also another reason for the decline that is not really talked about, namely the huge expenditure on armaments. In this respect, war-ravaged and poor Poland was in 4th or 3rd place in the world in the years 1960-1978. We were ahead of the UK, DE, IT, FR (!) Of course, our army was based on purchases or licensed production of military equipment from Soviet Russia. First, we collapsed economically, followed by the USSR a few years later. Expenditures related to the war in Afghanistan are often cited as the main reason for the collapse of the USSR. This despite the fact that the USSR's economy was largely based on the extraction and export of natural resources, of which it had plenty. You can find videos on YT presenting summaries of countries spending the most on armaments, and Poland was in 3rd or 4th place. It's a bit shocking. A well-prepared document. Thank you.

Every Polish child know this poem: A Song of the Soldiers of Westerplatte (English) When their days had been filled and it was time to die in the summer, They went straight to heaven in a coach-and-four, the soldiers of Westerplatte. (Summer was beautiful that year.) They sang: "Ah, ‘tis nothing that our wounds were so painful, for now it is sweet to walk the heavenly fields." (On earth that year there was plenty of heather for bouquets.) In Gdansk we stood like a wall in defiance of the German offensive, now we soar among the clouds, we soldiers of Westerplatte. Those with keen sense of sight and sound are said to have heard in the clouds the measured step of the Maratime Batallion. This was the song they heard: "We'll take advantage of the sunshine and bask in the warm days in the heather fields of paradise. But when the cold wind blows and sorrow courses the earth, We'll float down to the center of Warsaw, The soldiers of Westerplatte." Pieśń o żołnierzach z Westerplatte (Polish) Kiedy się wypełniły dni i przyszło zginąć latem, prosto do nieba czwórkami szli żołnierze z Westerplatte. Lecz gdy wiatr zimny będzie dął, i smutek krążył światem, w środek Warszawy spłyniemy w dół, żołnierze z Westerplatte. 1939 Thank you for your upload.

Not really...It started in Gliwice, and its called by "Gliwitz prowocation" where the german soldiers put polish uniforms and attacked german radio station. It was a typical "false flag" operation which is used by different countries till today, to provoke war.

Well done Charlie & Rob! 👏👏👏👍 You made an important comment at the end of the material about Westerplatte. The first German armed attack is an air raid on the town of Wieluń an hour earlier. The overthrow of communism began in June 1956 in Poznań (revolt in the Cegielski factory and bloody street riots). As a sign of solidarity, the Hungarians started an uprising that was suppressed by the Soviet Army. It was similar in the Czech Republic in 1968. Then there was a bloody massacre of workers in Gdańsk and Gdynia in 1970 (commemorated by three high crosses in front of the Solidarity museum). Another workers' revolt in Ursus and Radom in 1976.

I have to admit that your materials about Poland are probably the best I've seen. I really appreciate that they are not superficial and don't just show pierogi and żurek, but something more - the history that shaped my nation and the characteristics we have - complaining, rebelliousness, defiance despite the costs, love of freedom, and ambition to finally live in the country of our dreams. Thanks and greetings!
